jtrinsey - not sure FIP is the best metric to use for pitchers.  I am convinced that WIS pitchers have significant control over their BABIP.  It's the reason that striekout rate is so unimportant.
So you're saying pitchers have control over how many errors are made, or the range of the fielders behind them? That doesn't make any sense.

I think you are right in this regard. I think that pitchers with high splits tend to outperform their FIP. The problem is that they don't show singles, doubles, and triples on a pitcher stat card. I could probably use a reverse runs-created stat using OPS-allowed or something that might fit better. Maybe I'll play around with that at some point. Or even better, somebody could do it for me.
