The Upstate Challenge - Part III Topic

The coach is allowed to build the school however he wants, he just won't get the $100 bucks. No rule is being forced onto any coach. The guy is just offering an extra incentive to a new coach to accept a challenge, they don't have to do it.

No, but they're aren't going to win $100 if they win.

The guy is putting up $100 of his own money.  The point is to get a long-term coach.

I think it's a pretty sweet offer, regardless of a pretty minimal restriction.

i believe that in the last publication of the all time conference dynasty list, the mighty GLV of d2 tark had a bigger advantage over the 2nd best d2 conf of all time by a bigger margin than the d1 leader or d3 leader. so, girt, polo, if you would like to continue the squabble over who is the SECOND most dominant conf in all of HD, by all means, carry on :)

the GLV in tark is so dominant that, after winning 11 of 19 titles, the second best d2 conf in HD was formed in an act of resistance, right next door to us, to try to slow our reign of terror...

Marko, I'll grant you the best D3 conference in HD. D3.
that last post was for you!

but i really dont want to get into it.

its like arguing who's better, Ty Cobb or Ted Williams?

the argument can rage on for years, and there will be very little accomplished.  so, i tip my hat to you and the ACC.  maybe you all should take over an empty conference in wooden and settle it??  haha jk.  good luck buddy

oh.  and the answer is easy, Ty Cobb.  but thats for another day. . . .
So in our old CVAC battles, I was Ty Cobb then? ;-)

There are certain advantages that elite DI conferences have that have been debated ad nauseum somewhere else. But I submit that ACC Allen is SO dominant, that it's actually harder for teams not at the top in a given season. For instance, a school like Georgia Tech would win the SEC and Big East easily, and possibly the other three BCS conferences as well. But ACC Allen is so ridiculous, that they're in last place and will have to scratch and claw just to win enough games to make the tourney. Last year kyle's Miami squad finished 14-15 after the CT and missed the NT ... he would've won almost any other conference. (In his defense, he was destroyed by EE's.)

There is no conference in HD that is more difficult to win games in. And there is no conference in HD with a better collection of coaches. (Including the fact that 11 of us have won NT's.)

(Oh, and 20 games in and we're on track to absolutely obliterate the conference RPI record that we already hold.)

I'll take mine with mushrooms, sausage and peppers.

Sorry, the Gulf South in Allen is going to come close to breaking that one this season.

Im in both the upstate wooden and glv tark.  I do think tark is tougher.

sorry, brian, but i'm not sure your 1 season in the Upstate qualifies you to judge...

it is early and im far from always right but i do think it is and the reson is location of the teams.

got to a B prestige in 9 seasons.  you're a great coach and thats a long time.  so thats a great case for how tough the GLV is.  lets see how long it takes to get up to a B in the Upstate.

location?  they're all in a 180 mile radius from Indiana State University.  thats pretty close quarters if you ask me

I think the class structure of clarkson is set up well for a rebuild. 3 this coming year, with 5 the following year.

Really?  That sucks.  5?  Gonna be tough with the 4 senior cap for the money in season 5.  Maybe I'll not redshirt this year and then redshirt somebody next year.  Should take care of the problem.

I considered abandoning my McMurry team and take the challenge and had a pretty detailed plan of what to do. If you are interested (and if not against mrpolo's rules), then sitemail me.
