It is embarassing.

Here's my point.

Dude wanders in here with a vague "commish is 23-50, he's tanking right?" thread. That's lowball. So, I do a little digging. I can't read the commish's mind, but when I see the league members roasting him over the grill, and I see this guy never had a season under 70 wins in 20 seasons before this, I call a spade a spade. Coach is trying to be a ********.

Tanking is more of a pattern.  I can certainly see how a team that keeps its window open for as long as they can could end up looking like they're tanking.  If they've depleted their farm systems to bring in veterans (especially if they whiff in a competetive FA market), it's easy to see a season or two in the basement.  Context matters.  If you have a team that is doing everything they possibly can to slash payroll and not replacing arb-release guys w/ guys that can hold down the fort for a season or two, then I think you come close.  But looking only at payroll and win totals doesn't paint the full picture.

I'm just saying that having the majority of your players with overall ratings in the 30's, 40's, and 50's in ML is tanking. A team like that is never going to be very competitive

Get off the overall ratings.   It makes you look dumb and, because of that, you're immediately dismissed even if you do have a legit point.
well, that's bullshit. I fully understand that overall rankings is not the most important thing, however, regardless of their individual attributes, having a roster of guys with overalls in the 30's. 40's, and 50's is going to always be a loser team in ML. You get a 50-something rated guy to help you at catcher or can be a specialty RP, but you cant have a team full of them and you guys know it

Because fatigued players don't perform well?   Could you provide some sort of back-up for that?

Not only is he babbling useless info, he can't even get the useless info correct.

One psuedo defensive catcher in the 30s
No one in the 40s
9 in the 50s. Most are three way to sucky, alas, my issue is more with Mr Passive Aggressive and his methods.

A. Who the hell was talking about fatigued players?

B. He had a 1st baseman in the 40's when all this started- he has obviously made some changes since I brought it up

Just to make the point that OVR can be misleading, I have a pinch-hitter on my team who would make a passable 1B (lifetime .814 OPS) whose OVR is 49.
