The .doc that Dac posted is gold.  I owe 99.8% of my success in this game to it.

guess I should go re-read it since you kick my *** regularly...

I have one small quibble with the generally good advice given about not pulling offers. In a situation where the recruit in question is considering you as well as the other school, but you are way behind, you might want to pull the offer or at least inform of redshirt to get yourself off his list. Otherwise it makes you more vulnerable to other coaches making runs at your other potential recruits.

In D1 once your being considered do you all generally continue to spend money to ward off others? Sort of raising the threshold where he might consider other schools.

What are your thoughts about the logic of being on 6-7 players considering list. Several people seem to be trying that and I'm not sure I get the logic. It looks like you spread yourself thin.

It does appear to many coaches that you're spread thin. This can be very dangerous at D1. That's what pjbranklin warned about

dac, excellent advice, but one of my friends, who was a beta tester for the new engine almost two real years back, said an HD staffer told him sims were not going to make all their effort in Cycle 1 any more.  If the guy was a high priority recruit for them (and they always have two or three scholarships not filled, which go to walk-ons), they now spread their money out a bit more.  Also said that early money has a multiplier effect, so if someone goes after a guy you put good money in early, or that a sim latched on to, they have to spend that much more.  Have sometimes found I can pull a guy down by offering several HV's each cycle, even if they are rejected.   Had one guy reject HV's for six or seven cycles straight before agreeing.  But that doesn't work as well as it did a year ago.  Never tried multiple scouting trips--usually do two, just to get a better line on the recruit's potential.   Overall, found recruiting at the D2 level got very frustrating, as guys that coaches in our league had been able to pull down in previous seasons would not even talk to us, and preferred to go JUCO rather than consider us.

you misunderstood what he told you ted.     SIMS dont spend any additional effort on recruits that they initially target.
