Progressive Cap League (PCL). FULL Topic

Here's how it's gonna work in this league:  Nobody ever reverts back to a rookie.  Once a player is drafted, he'll progress every season whether he's on a roster or not.  When a player is cut, he goes to the draft pool until he either retires or is drafted by another owner.  If a player runs out of seasons, he's done. Retired.  Stick a fork in him.

Example:

I have Michael Jordan (84-85).  We just finished the first season and now the offseason for the second one begins.  He progresses to 85-86.  I decide that I need to cut him (yeah right)... so he's now a free agent as 85-86.  Let's say nobody drafts him (yeah right!).  The second season starts & ends.  He now progresses to 86-87 for the 3rd season's draft.

Example 2:

I have Kevin Love.  Say we've managed to progress through three seasons before the sim has put in the 11-12 players yet.  He's retired.  Period.  When WIS puts in the 11-12 players, he remains retired.  Sorry K-Love.

Example 3:

I have Kevin Love.  Say we've managed to progress through three seasons.  WIS has put in the 11-12 players before the deadline to cut your players.  He then has another season.

Does that answer your questions, seapilots?

Yes thnx,  Like this better than making them rookies again.  Puts greater value on the
players who produced over a longer period of time.  Which ius as it should be.
Looking forward to this!  PEOPLE DON'T MISS THIS ONE!

I ran a hockey league similar to this where we unretired all retired players after so many seasons. There are many ways to do it but what we did was every 10 years we had a bigger draft that had the normal pool plus all league retired players that had been retired at least 5 seasons

apple, I respectfully disagree with almost everything you've said here.  I will not take part in a league with a $42m cap that doesn't have rookies, as the talent pool is way too thin.  And I hate the rookies, so I'm flat out not going to do that.  I've had a ton of experience in progressive leagues, specifically the one this one is most modeled after, and salaries for teams begin reaching mid 50s as soon as the 2nd season and over $60m by year 3.

And everyone starting at the same time is the point.  If you want to do what you're saying, you need to be in a normal progressive.  And to be honest, I'm not worried what happens 20 seasons down the road.  If this goes 12-15 and the talent pool is non-existent, we'll restart or find a way to re-inject talent back into it.  But I'll let the league fill and actually play those 12-15 seasons before I worry too much about it.  Trust me - I've been through enough of these things to know how it goes.

Logain, that's a pretty fantastic idea.  I didn't get a clear indication from any of your posts but think that the answer to this question is yes... are you interested?

I think freezing a players season who is cut til they are drafted again would be a good idea. Progressing active players only, would allow each player to play out their whole careers and prolong the talent in the league. You wouldn't be wasting players seasons this way but they would still retire after their careers are over. This would probably be much easier to manage than progressing players who aren't even being used. Then there's the IR situation. Maybe you eliminate missing seasons and progress every player to their next active season. Just throwin out some suggestions......

Will trades inbetween seasons be allowed?

appleseed, please stop posting.  You obviously don't want to join (you've already said so), and I'm not lowering the cap to your ridiculous request (I've already said that).  You're not going to change my mind.  But let me show you why your thought process is invalid:

1) You can't take a funk52 team and do what you did because in the funk 52 league, only 7 players are drafted and the other 5 are filler picks that can't be more than $4M.  So those five filler picks are not really guys you might consider in a full, progressive draft.

2) In the funk52 league, you're drafting very specific parts to form a whole for *one* season.  You can't make a successful progressive team like that.  You have to take into account things like low-minute seasons for core players, bad shooting seasons for high usage guys that you normally depend on (yet their other seasons are worth it), spike seasons of normally below average players and far more things that when drafting for one specific season do not matter.

3) Need I say it again?  I've been in the UPL for 15 seasons or so.  I know what happens with salaries in that league.  My salary in the current UPL for this particular season?  Over $63M.  I haven't had a season under $55M since year 2.  I'm able to recycle a player over and over again.  I'm able to always have full front court minutes with the best possible boarding.  I've got Michael Jordan.  And I've not yet won a single championship there and am often toward the middle of the pack as far as both record and salary.

The team that has been the strongest over the course of this reiteration of the league has over $70M in salary (31k minutes).
One of the worst teams over this span has a higher salary than I do - $65M.
The random fourth team I just looked at has over $80M.  Eighty!
random fifth team over $78M.
sixth team over $70M.
seventh team over $68M.

You simply do not know what you're talking about when it comes to this type of league.

Yes!  Offseason trades are always allowed.  All trades will be subject to peer review with the final authoritative word coming from me, but that really hasn't ever been a problem in the past.  You in, sir?
