Dude, you've got bigger problems.  Justin Daniel on your team is maybe the worst human-recruited B prestige DII player I've ever seen.  Recruit better ATH/DEF!
He's got to be pretty damn close anyway.  The guards aren't really anything to write home about either.  A couple of them should never see the court in any league higher than the local YMCA.  The lone SF is basically a practice body although a couple of the big men are okay I guess.  The others are great, if you need someone to set screens, or wash the jocks or something.  Dwise, no offense meant, but you have GOT to recruit better players, especially having a fairly decent prestige.

no offense taken.  my last couple recruiting classes have been pretty weak.  my first two were solid, recruited a future first team all american PG (my first recruiting class), but my team wasn't getting results in my first two seasons after I took over so my recruiting started to suffer. Daniels was a backup option as was Frost (the SF you referred to).  Both still have high potential in ath so I'm hopeful they can improve a little bit.  Defense rating, I play a zone, which yes I should probably focus a little bit more on defense but it hasn't seemed to hurt me too much (yet).

serious question: what level of success are you satisfied with? If you are trying to make the NT and feel good with a NT 1 and 18 or so wins with a top 50 or so RPI, then you are on target. You will never have a chance to make any NT run with those kinds of defense ratings, zone or not. Just friendly advice, no offense.

again, no offense taken.  When I took over the team there was only one returning player got any playing time for me as the majority of the team graduated so the last couple season I've been content with.  yes, long term goal is to make an NT run deeper than the first round.  I def. appreciate any and all advice.

25 evals is really not worth that much. if the first 20 were used to pull the player down (just guessing, considering the other coach failed to pull down with 14, and higher prestige), then you probably had between 2 and 3 campus visits into the kid. that can easily be overcome.

just another lesson that money spent doesn't mean a damn thing, its all about considering credit
Hey there-- I have seen lots of ideas about considering credit in the post, but have been unable to come up with a multiplier myself and trying different strategies doesn't seem to help me figure it out because guys committ at different points.  Would love to see the updated "charts" on what you good guys think are the values.  Do those values always stay the same for every recruit?  Thanks
yes, its the same for every recruit.
1 CV = 2HV
1 HV = ~2.5SV (closer to 3 than 2)
1 HV = ~70 phone calls

when a player is still a potential drop down, and you try to pull him down, effort is reduced by a factor of 5, or something like that. maybe its 4x, i never really took the time to measure it exactly, but its somewhere around there.

the biggest disagreement you will get is on the 1CV = 2HV thing, many people believe its 1CV = 2.5HV or somewhere in between. but im pretty sure its not that high, maybe my 2:1 is off and its 2.2:1 but i can't really see it being off by more than that.

I agree that HV to CV is something like 2.2:1, I remember lostmyth hypothesized that it was more like 2.5-3:1, but I'm 100% sure he was off with that. I think the actual biggest disagreement you will get is on the SV thing, I think a lot of people think they mean next to nothing.

Thanks guys-- that is exactly what I was looking for-- and am hoping others will comment as well.  I have actually been leaning towards 2.5 HV = 1 CV but again, so hard to really tell.  I think the scouting visit might have more effect than is usually stated but I am wondering if anyone thinks that scouting effort might be connected to or multiplied by a different scouting effort?

2.1 perhaps.
