Round 2 Themes Topic

Questions for the $110M theme:

1.   It states: "The four people in each group will then draft their entire 25-man roster from their selected franchise."

I assume this is incorrect and we are to draft from the available 4 franchises in our assigned group. (Otherwise the only reason to draft is to block players that would appear on the other 3 franchises).

2.  For the franchise portion of the draft, it sounds like the draft order would be by owner ranking as follows:

21, 17, 13, 9, 5, 1, 22, 18, 14, 10, 6, 2, 23, 19, 15, 11, 7, 3, 24, 20, 16, 12, 8, 4

and that we'll end up with 24 unique franchises?

You misunderstand.

There is one franchise per 4-person group/division.  The entire 4-person group drafts from that one franchise.  The draft order for franchise is based on round 1 rankings.  The owner ranked #21 picks first (and that will be the franchise used by owners #21-24).  Then #17 picks, then #13, #9, #5 and #1.   The player draft order within each 4-person group is determined randomly.

OK, I understand now.

In the end, there are only 6 franchises in the entire league (with each franchise selected in each division selected by the highest ranking owner starting from the AL West to the NL East).  Each group selects players from the selected franchise in each divison.

Correct.

In the instructions for the $90M twist team you say "You cannot use the same season/team combination for any two twisted players." How does that apply in this situation. Say you have a team with Maddux and Smoltz as starting pitchers. Two years later, Maddux and Smoltz are still teammates. Clearly you can't twist both to the same season and add an additional teammate for each of them (for example, Chipper and Glavine). That violates the above quoted rule. But could you twist Maddux to the team two years later and then add Smoltz as his teammate?

Schwarze, 90 million question. Can I use a teammate from the same season as my selected player, but from another team (the player played for two teams that year)?

Correct.   You just wouldn't be able to use Smoltz as a twist in that situation.

Good question.  I never really considered that option.  Based on the spirit of the rules, I'd have to say no.  There really is just the one player from the current season.  The teammates are all coming from different seasons.

I had totally missed this rule, and was worried I was going to have to do my whole team again. My complete coincidence my team ended up complying with it. Phew...

brianjw, as commissioner of the 90M league, I would recommend having each owner site-mail you a list of his twists and teammates as they enter the league, to make it easier for you to verify legality of rosters (plus, they will be less likely to enter an illegal roster, if they have to spell it out in writing).

90M Question - Can a twist be within the same year if the player played for two teams?  Can his combined stats season be used if yes to the first part?
10/17/2015 11:46 AM
You can only own one player from the selected team's season (so you can't twist a second player from the same year).

In the 100M theme, can we draft ballparks that none of our players played in? Or are we restricted to the 25 home parks that go with our 25-man roster?
10/19/2015 11:33 AM
Good question.  I see that I wasn't clear.  The ballparks are unique and no park may be selected more than once.  The ballparks will be drafted.  You do not need a park that one of your players played in.
10/19/2015 10:31 PM
In the 100M draft theme are the ballparks exclusive or are all parks for a given franchise exclusive? Examples: the braves franchise has two stadium during our 25 years; Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and County Stadium. Can both stadiums be drafted or only 1 since both stadiums are part of the braves franchise?
