if you are saying its not fair because you might qualify next season it doesn't matter he would beat you out if he already qualifies, compared to someone who needs that 1 more season to be eligible.

But regardless, the guy who was qualified while you are not is MORE entitled to the team than you are. His qualifications, right now are better than yours. Just because someone decided to take a few seasons off, that does not impact how that person performed as a coach while he was coaching. And nobody has to wait for you to catchup before they can apply for a job.

jaymc. I had this whole back and forth a few weeks ago with the same people. I agree with you on your premises, but everyone else seems to disagree, and it's just not worth the debate, because nobody is going to budge. Just let it go.

I get what your saying but if you was in his shoes and had to take a break for some reason (could be any number of things health, job , family life anything). You then can come back and have a resume that qualified to get Kansas because nobody took them why shouldn't you get them?. You put money into a game reserve a team and your completely fine with having a chance of not getting that team?
I would guess if you reserved a team with a qualified resume but still might not get if after putting money into a game not many people would come back after leaving.
The point is anybody that could qualify had a chance at the job period. Why should a person that's qualified pay money to only have a chance on a team when that team has no coach.

Playing devils advocate here to your last post, but what happens if I pay my $12.95 to "reserve" a school like the scenario you describe above and job openings roll around and someone else applies and gets the job? If that was the only school I wanted, and the only reason I was coming back, do you think WIS would give me my money back?

This ^^

With the exception that if they totally took away team registration I guess that would also be OK. You pick a world and register, then you apply for jobs via the normal world jobs page.

Of course, the problem is that new coaches (first time registering) don't have Previously Played worlds, so there is currently no interface for them to be able to apply for jobs. They could totally reprogram the interface so that when you reserve a team (really a spot, the team is just unnamed), it adds that to previously played worlds and they could open up and show previously played worlds and change the name to inactive worlds (since new guys have never played).

Then they could apply for jobs just like everyone else.

As I said, I would be OK with that as a rule and game change, although I think it would cost new/returning customers, so I would not do it if I was in charge of the game.

I certainly understand why some might see this as unfair, at least initially before you look into it and think about the fact that the current system is just the same 'job period' for inactive coaches. I used to think that this was part of the NEXT job period and it did not make sense, but once I understood it just the inactive coaches part of the current job period it made perfect sense to me.

In fact, what would be the negative of just letting the new coach start playing with that team the day they register (if you are going to have in season registration). What does it hurt if a qaulified guy takes over a team he is qualified to apply for when he applies. The only thing that happens is the team goes from SIM to human coached and he could make adjustments to the team. Certainly the team would do better than a SIM coached team, and then there would be no confusion .. the guy registers, takes over the team. There is an announcement in the coaching corner and it happens on the next 2am Eastern Time cycle after he registers.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong jaymc, I understand where you're coming from. I just think the issue here is about the money being paid by the guy re-entering the game.
