Would all D3 teams be taken in a new world? Topic

Shocker. zorzii doesn't have a team in Crum. More shortsightedness from zorzii.

Well, one of the reasons for the question was, and maybe I have the details wrong, many veteran coaches asked for a world of their own when HD was changing to 3.0. Maybe they just wanted a 2.0 world. Can't recall.

I don't think ALL would fill but, given a month, I wouldn't be surprised if 250ish spots could be taken. Users in different worlds, who would like to compete with one another on even footing, would be afforded that opportunity. Nothing motivates sim users like "new". And, of course, you have the whole bragging rights thing. If the guy dominating Smith thinks he's the best and the Rupp, Iba guys think the same thing, there's their chance to prove it.
Yeah, you remember it right. Much of the conversation was rearward-looking, yearning for 2.0 and, as you see in this thread, even 1.0.

Although that new world would be exciting, it would be a further drain on the existing worlds, a net negative for the website.
That's not rearward-looking, it's offering choices. Vinyl albums are still made. Companies still publish paper books. AT&T still offers a land line. New is not necessarily better and, if people will play 2.0 or 1.0, why not make money off of it. Damn.

contracting worlds is unlikely ever to be an option so going there is a nonstarter

given all the troubles they had rolling over from HD2 to HD3 (with, what as it, servers? databases?), i doubt there would be any interest on WIS's part of offering HD1 or HD2 worlds regardless of interest.

And retro video games are available for download/purchase from companies like Nintendo. People like to play the classics and always will. Nothing wrong with that.

Unfortunately, for something like this, they would never ever go for it. They want to attract new users (I would think) and want them to play the newest and 'best' version of the game.

The biggest barrier is probably just the set up and having to maintain the different games. CS (as great as it is already) would now need to answer questions pertaining to a totally different game. Plus all the programming support and whatever else that entails.

I'd definitely be up for starting a new world. A race to the top D1 teams would be fun and I find it more appealing than the current prospect of making it to D1 by taking over and building up a lower tiered team and then moving into a power 6 conference and once again have to do a rebuild there as well. In the end though I suspect it's very unlikely, given the current population of the existing worlds.

it would be pretty funny seeing some top D1 teams with ratings in the 500s given the boondoggle that is sim recruiting.

I answered no, but I have been playing this game for about 6 or 7 years. Not one new world. The easiest thing for admin to do would be open up 1 new 2 / day. A couple tweaks and a new world would get folks fired up. Hard to imagine D3 filling, but it would do a ton better than what is going on now.

I would like to see worlds retired too. Admin could announce that worlds will close after, say, season 135. Tark would be the first to go, but with 10 seasons left, that would still take about a year, right? Just announce that users in the world for 10+ season at close will receive a season credit. The history would need to be preserved, but that should be easy.

rogelio, i agree. i said something similar when this issue came up sometime last year. if they straight up said, the "world X" is closing at the end of the season, people would rightfully riot, especially new users who were just getting started on their way to a goal. but if everyone knew in advance that in, say, 10 seasons worlds would retire and restart, or, if in the future they straight up said 'after 100 seasons all worlds roll over and everyone goes back to D3,' that would be a fair and effective way to do it.

the big plus to something like that is that you effectively get a "new world" without contracting existing worlds and without further dispersing a limited pool of coaches.

Man, the "work hard", "pay your dues" and "accomplishment" folks would **** blue bricks if you closed their world. Even if you gave them a 25 season notice.

I don't like the idea of closing worlds. If I see them starting to close worlds, I'm going to be concerned about the longevity of the game.

MAYBE if they said, we're closing this world to open another. That might be okay. But honestly, I'd prefer them to just open up a new world and see how it goes rather than closing. I'm not sure we're at that point yet.

"I paid my dues and put in a lot of hard work. Now you're taking all my accomplishments away from me by closing my world. THAT'S BULLSHIT!!!!!"

Over/under on how many versions of this you'd see if a world closed is 50 1/2.

Closing worlds is a bad idea. It was a bad idea in HBD(which they never did) and it would be a bad idea in HD.

Mike : Just saying. I don't care if they close any or launch 10... I am going to play. It's not really the subject. If they want to do a 3.0 D3 competition and don't start a new world, restarting one could be a solution. It could be one where I play, I would not mind.

You would certainly be in the minority then. As this is a Dynasty game, most people are building something. Despite it's flaws, that's sort of the point. I know you hate the job change procedure but, IMO, it's working like it should in a Dynasty game. Jumping from job to job shouldn't be encouraged. When you take a new job, it should be with the intention of being there awhile. If that's the case, instant success isn't necessary.

In HBD, there is no penalty for one and done owners. But they often leave a pile of crap behind. I think HD is a different beast and the idea of hopping from team to team isn't the intent.

No question! So, if WIS would listen to me (hahahahahahaha...), the plan would be rolled out in a single announcement:
  • All worlds will retire after season 135 (World data will remain available & searchable).
  • Participants in the final 10 consecutive seasons of a retired world will receive a 1 season credit (in addition to any other earned bonus).
  • A new 2/day world will open for registration in the Summer 2017!
  • A new 1/day world will open at the start of 2018.
  • WIS intends to maintain a minimum of 10 worlds (split evenly between 1/day & 2/day).
If announced today, then Tark would still run through Summer 2018 (approx.). People like to *****, but that's a long time for a video game! I would do it this way as I am confident that the new world would outperform the old worlds. However, it is reasonable to expect that new worlds would be likely to cannibalize participation in old ones, at least partially.
