i have to see blackula..i have a bunch of other movies to watch to complete this list...blackula is highly regarded...
30 days of night is the scariest movie i have ever seen..saw it in the movies...we were sitting up front so it felt like you were in the movie. itself.
the movie is dark and cold and scary.
I don't know if I would call Blackula highly regarded. I recommend several Vincent Price movies but it's with the understanding that the person knows the type of films Price made (low-budget, over-the-top hammy but strangely entertaining.) For those of us who are original Star Trek fans, Marshall's role in The Ultimate Computer episode is priceless ("One machine can do all those things they send men out to do now. Men no longer need die in space, or on some alien world. Men can live, and go on to achieve greater things than fact-finding and dying for galactic space, which is neither ours to give or to take.") Take that same 6' 5'' body with formal Shakespearian training and his booming bass voice and graft it onto a black Dracula, you have an interesting concept. Not a great film but better than the low-budget, quirky title would lend you to believe.

DVD from the library. I'm very fortunate to be in Toronto, we've got a terrific library system.
Excellent, never thought about the public library. I can probably find it through Inter-Library Loan if the local branches don't have it. Thanks!

LOL, how long is it? My favorite Russian film is the 1972 version of Solaris (astounding and almost three hours long.) If Solaris is 3hrs, War and Peace would be, what, six? For those of you who have not seen Solaris, do so.

you - blackula
oh, lol. Mid-range. Clearly not in the same category as Lugosi or Lee and, based on what you say about that 2008 film, nowhere near that either. If a full list of Vampire movies was made, maybe #10 or so?

Solaris was great. The filmmakers did justice to the novel by Lem, which was pretty good, too.

The War and Peace I watched was just over 7 hours long. Apparently there's an even longer cut. This version showed nothing of the Nikolai Rostov/Princess Mary story; I figure the longer cut might have it.

i always thought the abomniable dr phibes was a great alltime title..reminds me in terms of title of the 7 faces of dr lao.
Pretty bizarre but creepy-decent movie as well.

Last Man on Earth (kind of a vampire movie sort of) is a great flick.

i think so..i remembered it as a zombie film .....i guess one of the truly earliest ones.
Yeah it was but he drove wooden stakes through the hearts to kill them. I didn't know zombies had to be killed that way...but you are right. Zombie not vampire.
