I agree with long_ge, and would just add that anyone who has played this game for an extended time has lost to SIMs in ways you can't explain, or have generally had something unfortunate happen in the NT. We've all been there, so keep your head high that you are building it up right and that eventually you'll get yours.

In theory, would his athleticism be "elite" if he was running a different O/D? 60 team rating for ATH seems pretty solid for D2.

Elite and pretty solid are very different. It would be a competitive number in other sets, but by no means elite. I have a team ath of 63 with one team and it's ranked 18th in D2 and i'm a 2nd round type of team there. (Flex zone)

I have a team ath of 64 and it ranks 9th. (Triangle Man) That team is worthy of a deep run. But it all depends on what else you have too.

But 60 ATH for a team average isn't elite anywhere, in my opinion. Check your worlds you play in now. You just joined RMAC in Phelan, right? (Puke! Haha) Click the team ratings of D2 ATH in that world. I bet 60 doesn't even show up on the top 25 list. Or if it does it's close to the bottom

(when I say rank, i'm just talking about on the team ratings page. Not the rank of a team's performance)

A 60 ath team can be elite in D2, even with FB/press; but it won’t be because of elite athleticism. It’s serviceable, and can be very competitive (as terps team shows). It wouldn’t have been surprising if FGC made the final 4, or farther.

I’d be plenty confident with a high skills triangle (or flex) / zone team at 60 athleticism in D2. Lots of ways to build winning teams.

Agreed with this. You hope that it happens during the season. I survived my SIM game and we are on to the final four. Relieved.

It happened to me last night. #1 ranked, #1 SOS, #1 RPI D3 Iba team got blown out by 40 points in the Elite 8 to a team I had beat by 23 earlier in the season. 40% from the FT line, 47% from the field, Four A rated IQ Senior/Junior guards all fouled out, and I basically got destroyed in every category. Sometimes you go with what you think is your best game plan and it just doesn't work. mfnmyers is a very, very good coach, and there is no shame in losing to him. But a 63 point swing is one of those things where you just scream to the heavens, curse somebody with an Inspector Gadget Dr. Claw hand, and start planning for next year.

Hoops dynasty is really annoying because of the small sample size of the postseason...

Was anyone else around in the bad old days of the first game engine? Crazy upsets happened all the time. It was infuriating. You'd see great teams with six or eight inexplicable losses in a single season.

Seems like nowadays my teams get upset a couple of times a season, which seems about right. Back in the day, you'd be a 40-point favorite and wake up in the night in a cold sweat, afraid to look at the results.

Did I mention that we walked uphill through the snow to get to school and come home?

Thanks, definitely would of made it easier to swallow if I lost to a human coach. Very good insight that will make me renew FGC for next year. Thanks too long_ge and too all others. On to next season.

(Since I never give Seble credit)...
This was one of the major game engine changes he made that made HD better.
