Recruiting at DIII Against DI Sim AI Topic

If that recruit is your primary focus right now give him MOST of your AP so you can unlock the scholly and promises and stay on top of D1 Sims. Once that’s done, you can re-allocate your AP elsewhere.

Yes. You can win the battle. Especially if you use a promised start and/or promised minutes. The recruit will respond even more to promises if they have a preference “wants to play”.

At D3, you can get all D1 recruits. It’s a game of patience until the end of recruiting because human coach D1 or D2 will beat you almost always. But you can beat Sims.

There are also some gems at D2 level to recruit for your D3 team.
I have found it is almost better to recruit D2 talent, then compete for D1. Reason being almost all the D2 Coaches go all out for D1 talent without fail. That leaves the entire D2 recruiting pool open during RS1, and if you play it right those D2 Coaches will not get off the brakes early enough to get any D2 recruit with an early preference...they leave them open for the choosing.

I agree with this to an extent. D2 can be a crapshoot. There are plenty of really good D2 players - as well as D2 JUCOs.

Once you become an established team with high prestige, you can even reach for top 300 recruits. I saw multiple top 300 recruits snagged by seasoned D3 coaches. I think if you target solely D2 recruits, you handicap yourself. At some point, you need to go after D1 recruits if you want to compete with the big boys.

I made the mistake of only FSSing New York for D2.
