As the commish..I did up datealpha list daily...the real problem was the way we draft. Why put a schedule out..you guys were drafting when you felt like it...god forbid owners pick in their time slot. It was like herding cats with firecrackers. So now the commish has to sort through the cat **** and post it on the alpha list...woot. If owner A is picking and owner C(mac) drops his later 3 picks in, they can get missed.. Or. Owner C(mac) make 1 of two late picks, then like 6 hours later make the 2nd late pick..can get missed. Add to it that 10 other owner are following suit...then you get a ****-storm. So tell me again whats wrong with the expectation that freakn veteran owners picks on time..or proxy. If you miss your time, why do you have a right to barge in on another owner time slot? I think that's unfair to the owner of the slot. That why a more structured draft seem in the best interest of the league...

Not all people have a life of leisure. "...drafting when you felt like it." is way out of line. It's hard enough to fill these leagues without excessively penalizing people with all sorts of work lives that do not quite fit a 30-minute time interval. Is an ATC owner supposed to keep a 380 Airbus in a holding pattern while he makes his 2:30 pick? Picking when you can is penalty enough. As I said, I'm available and can (usually) update several times a day.

I sure it would help Amerk with herding catz. lol Most of the time we know if we're going to miss a time, in which case you should proxy. Most often a person picking late goes for the next best player and snakes the player from the owner who's slot his late pick falls in..this is unfair to the owner of the time slot. Because an owner can't pick and didn't proxy should not be put on an owner picking in their assigned slot. I'm not the Commissioner..I was just covering for amerk...it's up to him how he chooses to run the draft. Amerk knows that my input is only a suggestion...and I rarely even suggest. .so I've offered this type of draft to see if there's a majority that approves.

With all due respect: In all other sports/drafts, if a team misses the clock, they can pick whenever. I saw this happen in the NFL several times. It’s not “unfair” to the other teams “being jumped” because they’re still picking where they were slotted to pick. (i.e. 10 misses their window, 11 and 12 jump him and pick at 10 and 11. The person scheduled to pick at 10 now picks at 12. This isn’t unfair for 13 because they didn’t get “jumped”...they’re still picking at #13)

You can check my track record - I was always way on time with my DDL picks and I SMed others a lot when people couldn’t do it themselves. I’ve never ever missed a pick in my history on this site....BUT 30 minutes is a teeny tiny window. I’m okay with the window being 30 minutes, but not if it’s missed that it pushes that person to the end of the line. I’m a manager at my job and if something comes up, I gotta deal with it. If I come on 20 minutes after my slot because of that, I shouldn’t have to be penalized so hard that I fall allllll the way to the end of the round.

And what happens if someone proxies and that proxy doesn’t pick during that 30 minute window?

I just think that if we can pick during our window, or anytime after (if missed) it’ll be better for the owners, AND it’ll still keep the draft moving.

This is in no way an attack or meant as a penalty. There had to be 50 missed picks in the last draft. You can pick yourself...or proxy the commish and the 2 owners picking after you... You can send a wish list to the commish and another owner your friends with..."just in case i miss my slot pick so and so ...or pick the best Center available.. There are plenty options that don't unfairly disrupt another owners draft. How an organized, structured draftt is a penalty or deters owner from joining. Tcdune was new and the first thing he said was nobody's picking in order...I think it was the 2nd round and he had no idea what was going on. He was right the draft was chaotic by the second round. That's just not acceptable and makes it a pain in the *** to be commissioner.

A...if you sent it to the next 2 owners they would pick in their slot for you and that pick would be ligit....just like it's always been.

Smokey, really. If the missed pick owner must wait until the end of the draft day to pick, by your reasoning the owner who picks first the next day is now getting what you call, "screwed". Where the break falls at the end of the day is totally random in terms of owner sequencing. The only way for no one to be "screwed" is missed picks waiting for the end of the draft. Is that what you're advocating? The only rationale you 've provided worthy of consideration is that when people pick out of order it's harder to track. Agreed, a careful check is needed, but not a reason for a heavy handed punishment.

Fellas this can't just be on the commish. We all need to try to make our time slot but as someone who travels almost every week for work I will be the first to acknowledge that isn't realistic. I don't think it's too much to ask to send proxy picks to those that are available. In addition, it's not just on the commish or the person picking in front of you to send reminder sitemails. I had the luxury of being largely in office the last time I participated and tried to help out. Sounds like the most recent league may have gotten a bit chaotic. I should be in a position to help if we can get this thing going soon. As long as we can have the draft completed by April I'll volunteer to help keep things organized.

I vote for the one hour pick rule. At my job when I am able to be at my computer at work is very inconsistent and picking and drafting at home is difficult because I do not own a computer. Is that yalls fault? No. But, that 30 min would be helpful. BUT I also think you shouldn’t have to wait till the end of the round to pick if you miss yours. This is a competition but it is an optional competition and that kind of penalty, especially if it happened more than once, Would make it hard to rationalize spending money if I couldn’t compete. Also, especially if I missed those picks because I had something more important going on.
