MEAC in Tarkanian Topic

Taking the MEAC to a "power Conference" will be very very very difficult.

See Phelan A10. we have 9 coaches who have been at their program for at least 10 season each. We have built a really good conference with 3 final four teams and 2 national runner ups in the last 12 seasons. Our conference prestige is just a B which is above the ACC and Big 12 at B-. we are basically the 4th best conference in prestige. This took a lot and time effort and a bit of luck. If you stick with it and get a good group of coaches it does make recruiting a little easier but winning your conference gets harder and harder so be ready for that.

Also dont expect your prestige to get to A and stay there very long if you do well in the tourny. The baseline prestige really hurts when you get to the B+/A- prestige at the non power conferences.

We usually have between 5-8 teams in the NT every year. Good luck Fellas!!

That's awesome. Just getting that many teams in the NT would definitely be cool as well.

I am hoping to reserve the Howard job tomorrow morning. I love playing in mid-major D1, Howard is a perfect fit for both scheme (Triangle/Zone) and location, they will have a TON of seniors next year, and I've been impressed with the (already) active culture amongst the coaches in the MEAC.

Pencil me in for Howard.
That is awesome Verdiman. That will make 8, which is awesome. Looking forward to you joining us!

So, the Four teams that are left are Morgan State, SC State, Coppin State, and Bethune-Cookman. Morgan State looks like the best one currently.

I want to say - the nice part about joining one of the teams in this conference is how active we are.

Rebuilding at most schools is a chore until the rebuild is complete. You chug along and the first seasons drag along. You open the page, you see you lost, you close the page. That doesn't feel like the case here. Our conference chat is the most active chat that I have been in since early HD days. Everyone is talking about how their team is shaping up, recent streaks and trends, recruiting, etc. while we are also having true conversation with one another. Bobby and I were just in a heated battle to avoid getting D1's lowest RPI.

Luckily, none of the available jobs are even that bad though! SC State had some stronger recruiting by a coach who was there short-term, Bethune-Cookman has some very nice looking incoming freshman as well as a strong senior class next season to help keep you afloat while your recruits come around, and Morgan State will be a very veteran-led team next season as well. All great options to whoever takes them on.

This conference is a fun conference, period. I'm excited to keep being a part and competing against all that join!

Come join us! Lots of chatter and experienced coaches if you have any questions! We are all pretty crappy "except Delaware St. " But hey, that's part of the fun!

I encourage all coaches who are interested in the challenge of help building a conference to join us. The chat is active and fun. All coaches are encouraging and supportive of the other coaches.

Once we build our conference, it would be awesome to do a challenge with a power conference.

That would be cool! Cuck Is applying for Morgan State. This means we only have three spots left!

We are down to two openings. squeetiebuna is applying for Coppin State. So we only have SC State and Bethune-Cookman left to fill. Hoping we get two more coaches.
