i'm pretty sure fresno is b- baseline for what its worth.
cool stuff! i've always been on the not worth it side, but i get why so many folks care. it does keep getting worse and worse...
Worse and worse for two reasons..
1. Everyday, the HD conference alignment grows more outdated and the real life team's grow/build more into their current conference. Rutgers becomes 'more big 10' and Memphis becomes 'more AAC'. Younger players or those newer to college basketball likely scratch their heads and question the legitimacy of the game. In that regard, I think an update sounds great.
2. Every season, the real life conference alignments change just a little bit more. The most drastic changes were about a decade ago but there's moves going on all the time so HD's alignment are constantly worsening. If we update now though, where's the line? Do we update after every IRL season? Every other? I know it's a small thing but just something to consider that I rarely see mentioned with this topic.
Currently, I'm the coach at Hampton in Tark MEAC and we're trying to do something real special there with some top tier coaches involved. In real life, Hampton is no longer in the MEAC. Do I just get shafted and moved because I happened to pick HU 10+ seasons ago? That seems crazy unfair and I'd consider dropping them entirely. Do you replace the name Hampton with the name NC Central? Even if you gave me all the same players, I'd likely be butthurt over it since I actually picked HU at the time for the nice color scheme (maybe silly, but I have DM proof of this haha!) and I would hate to move to the heart of NC for recruiting. I guess I just don't know if there's an easy solution to the conference realignment topic that will please everyone (with a community this large, no decision will ever please everyone). It's one of the things where - I hope they do what's in the best interest of HD as a whole - and let the cards fall as they may.
Hi upsetcity,
You're right about your work at Hampton, and your comment applies to ither schools as well. By chance, i recommended keeping Hampton in the 11-team MEAC, so that is good.
Funny, i agree that color schemes are really important. I gotta stick with that drab gray of Providence cuz of my Friar fandom (really we should be straight black-and-white or white-and-black like Bowdoin), but i've ruled out moving to some schools based on their colors either being depressing, or too-bright headache-inducing (Western Colorado, take a bow). Hampton is cool.
