the whole issue is the 2 IDs you fools, thats what confused the admins. Admins are stupid, its not that hard to confuse them.

Okay, there are a few people on here saying multiple ID's are not the issue here but I have to disagree. As far as I can tell the reason he was booted was due to his new user ID WIS thought he was a new entrant to the world in which case they saw it as okay to move him. If that is true then I'd have to believe that if he didnt have multiple user ID's this never would have happened. For the record I have no problem with WIS moving people who are new to a particular world but I strongly disagree with removing someone who has worked to build a franchise, of course in this case WIS didnt know he had already put 2-3 seasons into that franchise because of the ID swap.

If that was common WIS policy it would effect my decision to take on a team. I think it would have a greater effect on people who actually lost a team thanks to this policy.

I am not claiming everyone shares this belief, but I am betting its a respectable percentage for people who enjoy the Dynasty aspect of the game.
It's the reason I play HBD as opposed to seasonal games like the old STATS or the one they have here. I've been in a league since season 4 and we're now in 13. I have built my team from an also-ran to a legit contender with a good farm system. I've followed a lot of my players from the draft or IFA signings to the ML and I have a fair amount of time and even emotional investment in their careers. I would be seriously ****** if the rug was pulled out from under me in this league.

I can't speak for cougdawg, but I can speak for myself. I have three accounts (this one, tecwrg2 and tecwrg3). I created the other two a couple of years ago when I was going on vacation for three weeks (Europe) with limited internet access and was getting somebody to babysit my teams. I got an owner from Mantle to watch my Cooperstown team and an owner from Cooperstown to watch my Mantle team. I didn't want to give both guys access to this account where they could (a) see my personal information, or (b) have access to my teams in the worlds that they are already in. Not that I distrusted either guy. I just didn't want to open that door as a personal policy. So before I on vacation I had my Mantle team transferred to tecwrg2 and the Coop team transferred to tecwrg3. Gave the passwords to the respective babysitters and off I went. When I got back, I had the teams both transferred back to my primary account (tecwrg).

Now: I run my regular teams under this ID, and run the abandonment teams that I pick up to babysit under my tecwrg2 ID. The tecwrg3 ID is dormant right now.

One of the advantages is that all the "one and done" teams are isolated to one ID. This ID is my book of record for my HBD resume.

So there are valid reasons to have multiple ID's. As long as you're not hiding behind them as an alias, I see nothing wrong with it. It should be pretty obvious that all three of mine are the same person.

Too long.

You said so yourself.

The problem is simple, CougDawg3 did not want his team back, cougdawg wanted CougDawg3's team, but someone else got to CougDawg3's team before cougdawg could.

Question (maybe this has been addressed): Would have changing the ID to the "3" version allowed cougdawg to change his budget settings without the +/- 4 restrictions? If so, then it would be a somewhat malicious use of the multiple ID system.
10/24/2009 11:58 AM
If he as cougdawg3 and came back in as cougdawg, he would be seen as a new owner and his budgets would revert back to the defaults. So yes, that could be "cheating" around the budget restriction.

Of course it is. And it's also a nice way to get a $15 team. That MAY be why WifS isn't bending over to "make things right" for him. They are a business, you know.

One reason to use multiple accounts is for taking over abandon teams. A coach might not want someone else poor record to reflect on their main account.

I must say it's an internet game. So worrying about your W/L numbers seems a bit silly(I have two mid-season takeovers on my record AND, more damning, a rebuild project). As a commish, I ask owners "why?" when something out of the norm shows on the record. A bad season won't kill you. Unless it's in the middle of a bunch of good ones. Then it smells like tanking.

I'm anal-retentive. I don't like different foods touching on my dinner plate. That's why I keep the one-and-done takeovers separate from my regular teams.

I like my personal record to be a collection of my personal statistics. It's not for others benefit its for my own enjoyment. It would be like playing baseball and batting 500 times and adding in some other players 60 At Bats to my total. I like looking at statistics, and to me adding in someone else statistics taints the results.
