I wouldn't disagree. But I think, in many instances, newcomers join to "try it out" rather than to play the next 15 seasons. So, in their first season, their concern is with their team and figuring out the ways of the world.

I wish there was a simple way to see how many owners, throughout HBD, have been in a world for 10 or more seasons.

In MG, we've got 14 who have been around all 15 seasons and 4 more that have played 10+. I think they have a "connection" that an owner who just joined does not.

Which makes the "chat" function critical when HOF voting comes around. The person who nominated them can give their reasoning on why they feel their candidate deserves the induction, trying to "sell" the candidate to the newbies. I think most people that have been around in a world for quite some time know about particular players and whether they deserve induction.

Who the hell did not vote for this guy? Wow, he was a stud!

You can chat a player up all you want but someone has to read it.

To sort of "prove" this point, Foxx, possibly the most 'tarded up world in HBD, elected no one to the HOF. I believe there were 20+ openings that were filled after the end of last season.

I voted for 4 players so I'm forced to believe there were at least a couple of HOF-worthy players.

That is certainly true. However, you can only control what you can...if you've posted your reasoning in the chat for a particular player (and even in the WC as well), you've done what can be expected. If the newbies still don't read them, then you can't do much about it.

I'll use Foxx as my example of newcomers not caring enough to do the research. Or possibly even vote. And I'll also use Foxx as my example for why I believe my suggestion of 17 votes for induction is a good idea.

It sounds like we'll be able to see how many votes a player who didn't make it received the next time he's nominated. From the response to a ticket I sent:

We currently display the highest vote total that a player receives on the voting page if they are nominated multiple seasons. However, no world has had more than two seasons of voting so these values aren't visible yet.
