Thanks, John!

Everytime there's rumbling about Kentucky's one-class basketball tournament, a little school like Shelby Valley (enrollment 570) wins the tournament. They're the first Class A school to win it since Paintsville in 1996. Painstville was also runner-up in 1998, the last time a Class A school made the championship game.

Shelby Valley's star, Elisha Justice, turned down a scholarship offer to Charlotte. He'll walk-on at Louisville instead.

Ok. I was about to look up if University Heights ever won one. They had a stretch of strong teams 5 - 10 years ago. This is why 15,000 - 20,000 attend the Sweet Sixteen every day

Yes, University Heights won a championship earlier in the 90's. The difference being that they were a private school and could attract students from anywhere.

Shelby Valley is a public school. Interestingly, Shelby Valley's coach, Jason Booher, survived the deadly 1981 Carollton, KY bus crash that killed 27 children. His best friend Chad Witt was one of the victims. Larry Mahoney, driving drunk, drove 5 miles the wrong way on I-71 and crashed into the bus which was returning from a church outing at King's Island Amusement Park.

The mother of one of the victims founded Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
