If you look at Sagarin's conference ratings for the past 10 seasons, and take a 10-year average, the Big East ranks 5th amongst the Big 6 conferences (just a hair behind the Big 12 and Big Ten, who are essentially tied). The PAC-10 ranks 6th, a significant ways back of the Big East. The ACC is 1st by a fairly wide margin, with the SEC being 2nd.

The Big East, in its current form, has not been around for 10 years. Your comparison is not valid.

I'm just saying, Crean's recruiting hasn't been equal to the other BigTen teams, let alone to a program viewed locally as an Elite.
It really doesn't matter what the supporters think. If the recruits don't think you're an Elite, then you're not. Most recruits don't care about basketball history and probably can only remember the past 4-5 seasons. Once a program has 4 or 5 consecutive mediocre seasons, it becomes more difficult to land the top players.

And that's exactly why I think Crean's job status may become a bit shaky over the next couple years. Many of the boosters still envision Indiana as an Elite.

Pomeroy gives a slightly different take over the past 7 years

7 avg 2010 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004
ACC 8916.0 9007 8722 8994 8978 8555 8934 9222
Big East 8636.4 8600 8691 8817 8487 8587 8613 8255
Big 12 8585.1 8980 8660 9140 8325 8104 8450 8437

Big Ten 8540.4 8511 8520 8737 8667 8267 8312 7791
SEC 8428.6 8370 7840 8621 8857 8585 8320 8407
Pac 10 8163.1 7813 8739 9087 8538 8221 7785 6959

But essentially it's the same. The ACC in first by a wide margin, the next 4 grouped fairly close together and the Pac 10 6th.

I will take a look at his classes later and see what i really think but He has recruited some solid players that have shown promise his first few years, they were just young and injury plagued this year and last.

I don't know how you rate good or not, but he is better than both his brothers Luke (Notre Dame) and Tyler (North Carolina).

That doesn't mean he is being considered. Oregon needs a name, and Dunlap is not a name known anywhere outside the Denver area and in intelligent basketball circles.

I hear that there's a Russian mobster in Jersey willing to pay someone $12 mil to babysit his overpaid group of misfits/rejects/cadavers.
