You obviously did not get 7 out of 10 things when I got 0.

Coach K does not have a questionable past and he is not pathetic. You are pathetic. I am done with this, it is not even fun anymore because you are not a challenge. You have brought nothing to this fight, I don't think I have ever been a part of a fight this one sided ever.

tmacfan, you are just a hater, its funny that when bill self pulled the same thing last year with xavier henry no one came running, or when ole roy had his situation at KU, or coach k had his situation with maggette, but now when uk is pulling in top talent again, all the sudden someone has to be cheating, it couldnt be that we are a top 2 school all time have a great fan base and have great facility's as well as roster spots for plenty of playing time, it just couldnt be any of that could it?

Not a UK, Duke, MSU, UNC, or any of those fans.

Simple fact is that Coach Cal is known for after Memphis that he pulls off some shady things. No one has proven anything, but OJ was innocent in court too, but it doesn't mean people didn't think he was/is guilty.

You can think what you want but I don't personally think UK is that shady. There is always a little stretching of rules with any top program. Who is shady though is Coach Cal. Why do you think he was so ready to jump ship in Memphis because of some of the allegations being thrown around about certain players and their test scores/high school GPA.

I can careless either way, but I would rather have my team get 4/5 year players instead of early entries. The most fun is watching a player come in his freshman/sophomore year and get a few minutes and develop into a starter. Then his Junior/Senior years take the game into their hands and become more dominate. But that is just me wanting to see actual college basketball instead of the NBA version where star players get away with everything and no fouls are called on them.

even in this game, the top teams in div 1 have players leave early

i even got 3 of the same articles when i googled coach cal is shady, (articles that stated they are the most shady coaches in college basketball)

mostly the same for cal 7 articles..

then agian this is all irrelevant, as both coaches have questionable pasts. and i dont see how a google search that shows 10 pages proves one is better than the other.
That must have been on some kind of UK board search or something because I didn't find any...

Except in real life you know pretty much his senior year in high school if they are leaving after 1 year. In HD its pretty random sometimes from what I have read.

Also, you gotta remember the difference between the occasional player leaving early and having players leave early every single year. The first is most of all coaches and the later is Coach Cal. No matter how you cut it Coach Cal is the early entry coach. Its all good though if thats the type of team you like, I guess at least you get to watch some great players. I wouldn't have faith in winning a N.C. with him at the helm though.

Wow, this quickly devolved into a UK vs. Duke ******* match. My two cents in this debate: Duke is ahead of Kentucky right now, but their overall histories are very similar. Kentucky has had success under a lot of good coaches (Rupp, Pitino, Tubby), while the vast majority of Duke's prestige is thanks to Coach K. All in all, there are only a few schools in the top tier of college basketball's all-time great programs, and both UK and Duke are in that top tier.

Whoever made the point that Calipari is shady, not so much the entire UK program, hit the nail on the head.

as a terps fan, and no fan of Coach K, but Calipari is waaaay far ahead of Coach K in the all important "wins vacated" column....including both UMass and Memphis....

If they'd treat the Corey Magette controversy the same as any other school, Duke would have forfeited the 1999 NT runner-up season.

I did some quick research on this topic through a couple different sources including thetruthaboutduke.com I think it was, its very anti-duke, as well as CBS sports.

I found out that Maggette had received money for playing summer league ball with a coach named, Piggie. This was the wrong doing by Maggette which got him suspended after the fact basically after he was in the NBA.

Next I found out Maggette only received money from this coach named Piggie who had no affiliation with the University of Duke. He had other players whom went to other Universities as well after accepting money to play on his summer team.

Piggie got his money from Nike who paid him for him coaching in the summer leagues. In order to secure some of the best players he paid them to play it would seem.

In the end you can say Duke should vacate the games which might be true, but it was not Duke whom paid the players. It wasn't even a booster from Duke who payed the players. It was a summer coach who had multiple players he had paid that went to multiple D1 schools.

I am not trying to defend Duke but just give the facts here, most schools would probably have to vacate their wins and they got lucky. The story is though Coach K did not in this circumstance pay his players or do anything that was wrong.

that is like the same exact story from when camby was at UMass, - except it was a agent, who had nothing to do with Umass or calipari.
4/26/2010 3:12 PM
there was a lot more going on at UMass than Camby and an agent.

The school administration certainly bent the rules to allow some of those players to become enrolled at UMass.

Also cases of players dropping out of school in November and Coach Cal playing them until the next semester began in January when the players officially showed up with a 0.0 gpa.

Looks like UK may be needing to put out a REAL help wanted ad, if Gary Parrish has any actual credo.

Google Coach K is Shady

In those results, none of the pages mention coach k being shady in any way. The closest thing is who do you despise more, Coach K or Coach Cal.

In fact, you somehow get 2 Coach Cal is shady pages in the first 10.

Now google Coach Cal is shady

ALL OF THEM ARE ABOUT COACH CAL BEING SHADY.

Get wrecked.

And before you ask for proof, there is none. Shadiness is a perception and Coach Cal is perceived as shady.
