so what ur telling me is that tip in off the miss through a double team could wind up being the deciding play of the whole shootout (walking away shaking my head muttering incoherently)

cool idea andersaa.  was thinking of suggesting something like this...maybe next season if people are interested in doing so we can even have each coach submit a ballot (within 24 hours of the last game maybe?) with their votes for tourney MVP, 1st/2nd/3rd teams with the stipulation that they can't vote for their own team? Or rather than doing 1st/2nd/3rd/HM, I'm sure most coaches would focus on the teams they played, so you could have a 1st and 2nd team from each Pool and an overall tourney MVP, as I assume most people would be reasonable enough to vote for someone that played for the top couple of teams

I would have everyone come up with their 1st and 2nd team All-tourney, MVP and MVCoach? Or maybe have each coach select 3 teams but only announce the top 2 teams based on overall votes. I would be willing to volunteer some of my time to administer the awards and tourney teams.

Big congrats to Eastern

Great job with the tourney awards andersaa.  It's a great addition to the Shootout, and this event is now exactly what I had hoped it would become many seasons ago.

Yeah I wanted to have a ballot for MVP, and will have it in the next shootout.
I only thought about this becuae I had to put in all the scores at one time. And Morgan, Banfield and Padgett kept coming up as POG's, I decided to create an all-tourney team. But that got really hard becuase there were so many great guards. So instead of doing this by myself next season I will get input from everyone.
Just submit a MVP, 1st, 2nd and 3rd team to me via sitemail between the end of the tourney and the begining of conf games next season. I think any coach that wins the shootout get the coach award.

can we make a bridesmaid award for teams that finish in 2nd place multiple times in a row? :)

Good luck everyone in conference play! Let's see how many of the Phelan Shootout participants we can send to the NT.... Based on this field I want to see atleast 3 in the elite 8.

2/19/2011 5:27 AM
4 Shootout teams among the Elite 8.  Unfortunately 2 of them have to play each other, but we still have a chance at 3 teams in the final four, and are guaranteed at least 1
