If you guys are SO SMART ... and if creating a college basketball simulation that works is SO EASY ...

Why don't you create your own in stead of constantly bitchin' ... THEN you can take all the HD customers to your awesomely performing game.
So because I can't build a car, I don't have a right to complain when the car I buy doesn't work properly?

Look, it's clearly not useful to make a generic statement about HD not working properly.  But to suggest that he doesn't have the right to complain is ridiculous.

EDIT: And it's even more ridiculous to suggest that he doesn't have the right to complain because he isn't a computer programmer, which makes almost no sense.  He pays for a product, the product should work properly.  If your contention is that HD works properly, I think most would disagree.  If it's that it's hard to program games so WIS should get a pass on the game not working properly, then I think most disagree.
It is the ultimate stupidity to continue to pay and pay and pay and complain and complain and complain.

The game is the game and it has been basically the game that it is for several years.

Can it be better, sure.  All games can be better.  It is, however, what it is.

It seems quite silly to continue to play something that people think are complete garbage.

If you think it needs some tweaking, then sure .. but if you hate it and continue to play ... well then...

who said they hate it and continue to play? please don't take this to be offensive, but this is just one of many posts in which you appear to put words in other peoples' mouths. its like you are arguing against a point that nobody made, or against something that nobody said. i honestly think you just simply need to read what is said a little more carefully and think about what the poster really means. your viewpoint and the viewpoint of those you disagree with, from an objective standpoint, are typically much less different than you make them out to be.

I woke up this morning and drew breath.

Still, hughesjr's posts in this thread were the least surprising things I've encountered today.

So I will make jb's point for him since he might not be watching this thread.  In Allen, he has Kentucky at an A prestige, and had 5 opening this period, and probably had $90k-95k.

He had to spent 90% of that on 1 player, 40 miles from him, to defend against Duke, 400 miles away.  Crazy?  Not in the Allen ACC where 56k in recruiting money was a down year.  Where "only" 4 teams made the Elite 8 this year.  I'd be frustrated as hell at the game too if I were him.  No was a 3 scholarship team should be able to push an A school around when at that kind of disadvantage.  Worst part is duke signed 2 5-star recruits, Kentucky  won the battle and signed only 1.
Well, to be fair, he did win the battle, Zephier was 70 miles away from him and I had 4 openings, not 3.

But just to play devil's advocate, this only got everyone riled up because it involved Allen's ACC - which is everyone's favorite boogeyman.  If this was an A school trying to get a B+ school's recruit long distance (and remember everyone A+ has a significantly wider range of values, and Duke has a very high A+, so the difference was definitely greater than between an A and A- for example), and be willing to take a walkon and risk getting poached in order to spend 83% of their budget on a single recruit, this wouldn't be a thread.  But since it involves Allen's ACC, it is a demonstation of everything wrong at DI.

Congrats to jbas for winning the battle and an even bigger congrats for having the balls required to battle an ACC school.  If more teams stood up to us, or beat us in the tournament, we wouldn't ride over Allen.

jbas beat me in the tourny then beat you in a recruiting battle. we're gonna have to ride him out of town. we can't have this

kel, I'm already on it.

People, please don't be alarmed when jbas doesn't show up for work this morning.

Move along ... nothing to see here.

Since you brought it up, you might have cost me the battle, swing the NT money, jbas gets 5 fewer HVs, I get an extra CV and HV - I think it was that close.

acn, I had no seniors the prior year, so with full carryover I started with something like $115 K. I threw about $95 K of that into Zephier.

But to be clear, my annoyance wasn't directed at you, the Allen ACC, or the possibility that I might lose the battle. What irritates me is that the way recruits are generated now forces me to torpedo my team by getting in the battle in the first place. Before the change, I'd have simply let you have him and built my team around lower-rated guys. But now the gap is so large, and the ability to develop those lower-level guys into truly good players so much less than before, that I'm somewhat forced to try to grab a top-rated player no matter the cost.

(And as for kelby: As I said before, my biggest weapon in our game was the law of averages. I was starting to feel like Vitas Gerulaitis to your Jimmy Connors.)

I've always thought that we have far too few Vitas Gerulaitis references in these forums.

jbas, I'm now going to call of the hit we'd ordered on you.

No that's the problem....The #10 player at a position half the time sucks compared to the #1 player.  I mean, like 120-150 overall rating points difference.

Wait, hughesjr supporting everything WIS?  Seriously, shocked again.  He's usually so critical.
