Note Elgin is 98% at pg..
I have defensive holes but Iggy can guard both guard spots 100% and Brand/Howard can cover for Unseld

Will see how it works. Just though taking a flyer on Elgin in round 6 might be fun and would boost my rebounding quite a bit using him as my backup guard.

I may also hit the usage penalty a few minutes a game for having 9.5 usage pts on the floor .. oh well!

Too afraid to evaluate my squad eh? I predict a playoff contender if the rebounding isn't too weak. Best defensive team I've ever drafted. Hopefully Karl Malone and Jerry West are strong enough offensively to carry that load. I really like the Okafur pick in round 5. I traded with Mikee1 as I thought that ash would take him for sure and I didn't want to get stuck with Noah or a much worse back up player. Boerwinkle and Karl are solid up front. I like nick Anderson and Jameer Nelson. I forgot about Shawn Marion. Gonna use his at the 100% effectiveness season.

kudos on ring no. 5, vancem!
3/17/2012 8:32 PM
Thanks scud. It has been a lot harder to get championships in leagues like this going against owners like you than I thought when I started out. Not that I thought that it  would be easy to get rings in theme leagues.

Name Season Pos Usage eFG% DReb OReb Ast Def Rating
Kobe Bryant 07-08 SG 31.9 50.3 3.3 13.6 17.0 90
Dikembe Mutombo 94-95 C 14.4 55.6 12.4 24.9 4.7 91
Deron Williams 07-08 PG 23.4 54.4 1.3 8.0 34.2 70
Josh Smith 09-10 SF 22.3 50.5 8.5 18.6 14.9 90
A.C. Green 88-89 PF 17.0 53.2 11.4 19.0 4.7 80
Walter Davis 78-79 SG/SF 29.0 58.6 4.9 11.0 14.3 48
Mark Landsberger 79-80 PF/C 18.3 51.6 16.8 27.1 3.5 25

Kobe will carry load with the offense and Walter Davis (who I have wanted to use in this format for a little while as an experiment) will help a lot when he comes in as an SF/SG and Kobe moves to the point.  I love DWill in this league and he should feed the ball well to the scorers.  Josh Smith, AC Green, and Mutombo will clog the middle on D, with Landsberger coming in to rebound (since that and foul is all he will do).

I could use some more rebounding, but I love my D, assists, and eFG%.  For the most point I feel that most of my picks were made in lieu of what I really wanted, but this is a decent patchwork quilt.  As usual for me high turnovers, and high fouls will keeping me yelling at the walls in my humble abode.

Sitting at 18680 minutes and just over 3.5 Mil to blow.

Okafor was on my radar, but I didn't want another tier 4 usage player at that point.  I've already taken away enough of Durant's possessions with Magic, Marques & Humphries.
3/18/2012 12:32 PM (edited)
Yes ash, usage was my concern with taking Nick Anderson after already having picked Jerry West. As it stands now my starters have 113.5% usage. I have a feeling the the Malone & West combo will either be a big hit or a huge flop. Actuallly what also messed my up a tad was your pick to back up Durant. I had all of my dream teams set up with him as my back up pg. I didn't want Jameer Nelson in round 6 but he fiits in well enough behind West.
3/18/2012 12:18 PM
I couldn't afford for someone else to take Beaubois - even though, in the end, it has hurt my team by me not being able to take another $4M+ player, resulting in wasted minutes/unused cap space.  But, by god, I have Beaubois coming in for 9 minutes a game.

quick blurbs about the teams:

1) sixernuggets (1) - Wilt Chamberlain, Dirk Nowitzki, Brent Barry, Mark Jackson, Jamaal Wilkes, Norm Nixon, Caldwell Jones

classic Wilt mistake: not enough boards.

2) jethroeg - Moses Malone, Kevin McHale, Maurice Cheeks, Gus Johnson, Fat Lever, Brian Taylor, Stromile Swift

Mo weak at point; Need more boards up front (moses not enough)

3) jakotay - Michael Jordan, Swen Nater, Tyson Chandler, Grant Hill, Chris Mullin ---- -----

Classic Jordan mistake (too much usage taking away from his incredible efficiency).

4) sixernuggets (2) - Bill Russell, Steve Nash, Wesley Person, Alex English, Dan Issel, Michael Adams, TR Dunn

Too much Denver here (English, Issel, Adams all weak picks in this league).

5) katernberg - LeBron James, Gerald Wallace, Mel Daniels, Charles Oakley, Charlie Ward, Eddie Jones, Martin Gortat

Solid.  Lots of flexibility.  Probably light on the offensive glass due to the SF position.

6) banditone - David Robinson, Clyde Drexler, Larry Nance, Chris Webber, Toni Kukoc, Paul Westphal, Archie Clark

Needs more boards.  Webber will take away from Admiral & Glide's godly offensive efficiency.

7) bluenote75 - Dennis Rodman, Paul Pierce, Amare Stoudamire, Joel Pryzbilla, Derek Harper, Jamaal Tinsley, Andris Biedrins

This is a really solid squad.  Good boards & offensive efficiency.  The Tinsley pick hurt my team.  Damn you.  FWIW, Biedrins was a UVA staple in this league.

8) xxevilivexx (1) - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Donyell Marshall, Mookie Blaylock, Kirk Hinrich, Sidney Moncrief, Detlef Schrempf, Jon Koncak

Need more boards at the 4.  Hell, you need a 4.

9) sappy - Charles Barkley, Ray Allen, Buck Williams, Andrei Kirilenko, Kevin Johnson, Clifford Ray, Alonzo Mourning

Sir Shuttlesworth is among the most powerful sim combos.  AK47 hurt your strengths, otherwise great squad.

10) logain - Dwight Howard, Elton Brand, Wes Unseld, Dana Barros, Andre Iguodala, Elgin Baylor, David Lee

Iggy/Baylor confuses an incredibly well thought out squad.  I flat don't get it (even with your explanation).

11) tricky24 - Shaquile O'Neal, Kevin Love, Cedric Maxwell, Michael Ray Richardson, Reggie Miller, Baron Davis, Taj Gibson

Was with you till MRR.  Again with the Baron Davis... Why?  You have Shaq, Cornbread & Reggie - why would you take away any of their possessions with a guy like Baron?!

12) mikee1 - Dwayne Wade, Marcus Camby, Horace Grant, Bob McAdoo, Chris Anderson, Dan Majerle, Renaldo Balkman

Really well thought out squad with great synergy.  You should be arrested for taking McAdoo in the 4th (it's a steal).

13) captainzen - Chris Paul, Shawn Kemp, Tracy McGrady, Troy Murphy, Lamar Odom, Roy Tarpley, Mike Biby

Weak on the offensive boards, but otherwise I dig it.

14) 98average (1) - Jason Kidd, Manu Ginobili, Willis Reed, Tree Rollins, Rudy Tomjanovich, Patrick Ewing, Antonio McDyess

One of the better squads you've built in recent memory.  I'm sure you'll screw it up with your terrible coaching.

15) ashamael - Magic Johnson, Kevin Durant, Marques Johnson, Kris Humphries, Joakim Noah, Rodrique Beaubois, Dan Gadzuric

I dislike building squads without one high (4th tier or better) usage, high fg% player (I actually like my highest usage player to be this guy), but I've built so many teams around the Mailman recently, and with Magic being available... yeah.  So I have your classic high volume gunner with a modest efg% (Durant) - something I really haven't had a lot of success with.  Either way, I'm always excited to use one of my all-time favorite players in Magic and get to use Durant for the first time.

16) vancem - Karl Malone, Shawn Marion, Tom Boerwinkle, Jerry West, Emeka Okafor, Jameer Nelson, Nick Anderson

Weak on the offensive glass.  Mailman & Logo will get opponents into foul trouble, but not as much as you pay for them.  Still nice squad.

17) scudmissle - Ben Wallace, Bill Walton, Anfernee Hardaway, Vince Carter, Carlos Boozer, Danny Granger, Connie Hawkins

Nice back court.  Nice front court.  Nice team.

18) 98average (2) - Artis Gilmore, Tim Duncan, Bill Bridges, Mark Price, Robert Horry, Terrell Brandon, Scott Burrell

I really, really like this squad.  Surprised more people don't use Burrell.

19) ncih - Kevin Garnett, Jerry Lucas, Bob Lanier, Terry Porter, Stephan Curry, Steve Kerr, Andrew Bynum

I really dig this squad, too.  Porter is amazing - how did you get him in the 4th, again?  Curry should be on the rise.

20) malone9975 - Kobe Bryant, Dikembe Mutombo, Deron Williams, Josh Smith, AC Green, Walter Berry, Mark Landsberger

Lot of good to work with here.  You're falling in love with D-Will, aren't you?  With good reason.  I like the Smith/Green dynamic at SF.

21) dh555 - Larry Bird, John Stockton, Robert Parish, Pau Gasol, Dale Davis, Michael Redd, Cedric Ceballos

Holy efg% batman!  Possibly board lite, but very nice efg%!!!!!!

22) tarheel1991 - Julius Erving, Scottie Pippen, Anthony Mason, Red Robbins, Ryan Anderson, Jon Barry, Mike Miller

I don't get this squad.  Why do you pick Pippen if you're building around Dr. J?  Both should be at SG.  Board-lite.

23) xxevilivexx (2) - Hakeem Olajuwon, Chauncey Billups, Bobby Jones, Walt Frazier. Charlie Edge, Manute Bol, Mark Eaton

I know what you're trying to do and hate you for it.  I don't think you'll be a serious threat, however, just a spoiler.  Extremely board-lite.

24) chris_snid - Gary Payton, Oscar Robertson, Kevin Willis, Samuel Dalembert, Elden Campbell, Gheorghe Muresan, Kyle Lowry

Meh.  Decently strong squad that'll win some games.  Nothing too exciting.  Willis kills what you had going.  Elden was a ??? but I see what you're thinking (I just think there were better options out there).

Surprisingly when I ran the team in the dream team setting the rebounding wasn't a big factor. No team scored over 100 on them and I averaged about 17 blocks a game with low turnovers. I am willing to test it out, it will honestly prove how defense works. I know Robo tried or is trying to do the same in the odl, but we'll see how it works. I think I'll get destroyed on the class, but not as bad as you'd expect.

sim matchup is beyond unreliable.  Without even going into the fact that you can't possibly create the setting another coach uses, it uses a different engine than the actual sim.  So... yeah.
