I can't understand what int'l recruits are saying Topic

Is that true, that you can go from leading to "To Late..." without hearing you're behind?  I thought a change had been made to prevent that.

The details are -- I first had the indecipherable message from the OP.  Then, without doing anything got the "Coach, you my best school I play basket. I need wait for sign so I say yes. Hope sign come soon."  Which made me suspect my opponent (Miss St.) put in some effort.  As I was fighting for someone else at the same time, I hoped against hope that this message was as good as it sounded and I was still in the lead, and did not put in any more effort.  4-5 cycles later I got the Too Late email, but it turned out Syracuse had pounced from the blue and outspent us both.  As I was out of money and it was overnight, I didn't notice how many cycles before actually signing him Syracuse showed up.

So, to conclude: either A) I went from leading to Too Late... without ever hearing I was behind, or more likely: B)  "Coach, you my best school I play basket. I need wait for sign so I say yes. Hope sign come soon" means you're losing -- which is stupid.
a change was made to prevent you from going from considered alone, to the player signing with another school, as best i remember.

i totally disagree with you on your conclusion, the most likely part. almost unquestionably A. who is the coach of syracuse? i bet its a good one, and if so, all the more likely its A.

if you really dont think its A... how much did you spend on that guy? i mean if you spent 50-60k thats one thing, making it unlikely someone would trump you that swiftly. but if you are at lower figures, easily easily could happen. also what cycle did the guy sign in? that has a huge impact.

Well, I said that when I was under the impression you couldn't go from leading, to someone else signing the guy.  If I was mistaken, then I agree that makes A seem much more likely.

This is probably a minor point and it's a bit off topic, but I find it rather offensive and degrading with how the international recruits responses are worded.  Especially since, after they sign with your school, all the messages then come in perfect English.  Maybe they were meant to be funny a long, long time ago, but they really need to be changed to be in line with all the other recruit's responses, if for no other reason than the confusion that they cause as shown with Jeff's situation.

Maybe I'm particularly sensitive to them since I have a foreign spouse and foreign in-laws, but I still think they need to be changed.  Okay, forum police, kill me with how I need to lighten up, I've opened myself up to it.  Have a nice day, but please be gentle.

No, I agree, emy.

I don't see the point of having potentially culturally insensitive responses.

I'm on board, too, it's unnecessary and demeaning.

I agree as well.

Fifth'd.

Okay, well, maybe I'm not as in the minority on that as I thought.

i never really thought about it, but i agree. its a little ridiculous. there are several sources of questionable humor within this game though, i can certainly see some people being less than thrilled to get the shhhhhhhhhhhbang message. im sure whoever did it meant nothing by it, but still, no reason to risk offending people.

looks like emy makes things happen.

""Removed the recruit message responses specific to international recruits. They will now pull from the same responses as any other recruit""
