No one knows for sure this early in the process. I've gotten better players than I expected late in the first round. But, until they develop, we don't really know how much is enough. Purely anecdotal but 6-10 doesn't seem to give very good projections.
I fully agree. I drafted
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Sam Gailey at #49 and
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Dave Kalish at #63. I was much happier after drafting and signing these than I was with the #3 pick
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Trace Montgomery. I had Gailey ranked at #14 and Kalish ranked at #15. Montgomery I had ranked at #2 and there was little doubt on that according to projections. I carry I believe 19 mil in HS scouting. 2 in college and will drop that to 0. San Antonio will still have a couple of bad inherited contracts on the books next season so I will maintain the 19 mil in HS before I settle down to 14/15 mil in a couple of seasons.
I have little doubt that all 3 of these guys will be contributers at the ML level but Kalish especially and Gailey are a pleasant surprise as I'm not used to comp picks looking as good as these.
Edit: I have 18mil in HS.
