https://pjmedia.com/trending/california-ranks-as-poorest-state-one-of-the-worst-for-income-inequality/

Despite having the fifth-largest economy in the world, California is one of the worst states in the nation in terms of wealth inequality.

Despite all the wealth in the state and the Democrat control of state government, California actually ranks as the poorest state in the country after costs of living are factored in. A whopping 19 percent of Californians live below the poverty line. While California represents just 12 percent of the nation’s population, Californians represent a third of all Americans on welfare.

The average monthly cost of rent in the state is 43 percent higher than the national average. Nearly a third of Californians spend more than half of their earnings on housing. The situation is made worse by skyrocketing energy costs. “Residents who can afford rent or a mortgage are on the hook for electricity rates burdened by green initiatives and regulation that grew 500 percent faster than the national average from 2011 to 2017.”

Having lived in both California and MA, I will take California any time. The drivers in MA suck, the weather in MA sucks, the sports fans in MA suck. I did like the pizza at the Town Spa in Stoughton though.

Nationalized Healthcare is a myth.
Why?

America could definitely build a modified version of the Singapore and Swedish health care policies that could work well here.

California's poverty rate is 23.8% when adjusted for cost of living. Think about that. That's almost 1/4 of the people despite having more economic potential than any other state in the country. It has a beautiful coast, many tourism attractions, Silicon Valley, Hollywood.

And more to what you were saying, Tang. Look at many large cities. They have been ran by democrats for many years and are in terrible shape.

So yes. I would say "my" policies do work better.
Yeah, you are wrong. Kansas is in a **** ton of debt and we have terrible infersstructure and education.
I am a huge deficit hawk and believe that all debt is bad, so yes Kansas has too much debt. Relative to the rest of the country, they are middle of the pack and about average as far as debt goes. As far as infrastructure, you live in the state so I will take your word that it needs heavy upgrading.

But from a poverty standpoint, Kansas is doing pretty well. This is what I meant by conservative policies do seem to work better.

Nationalized Healthcare is a myth.
Why?
#1) I have healthcare so if you tax me at double my rate and the healthcare I get is worse (longer lines) then I won't be happy.

#2) My friend (ex boss) who lives in Spain pays 51% in taxes and also gets supplemental insurance so that he doesn't have to wait in lines.

Why don't you think food should be free? Without food we die?

Even relatively poor people can afford food.

Can relatively poor people afford cancer treatment?

#1) They can? Then why do we have foodstamps?

#2) Very few can afford cancer treatment. This is what charities are for. Maybe our political leaders should donate the $4Bn they spent on the Nov election and give it to a charity to fund those that cannot afford cancer treatments.

Relatively poor in this case is like lower middle class. $40k income or whatever.

The idea that no one can afford cancer treatment is the point. And no, relying on charity won’t work.
