Times were different. The continent had large amounts of unsettled land and too few people to inhabit and "tame" the wilderness that was the west half of our (present) Nation.

You can't sit here and post quotes from hundreds of years ago and claim this is what we should be doing now when it's regarding one issue, yet turnaround and say how outdated those people's thinking was on other things.

IF he knows what he's doing he will treat his workforce more than humanely. Same thing for the Apple grower, the Peach orchard owner, and the Pears, the lettuce farmer, and even the gardner co. owner And the pool cleaning business guy.

Anyone is quite welcome to apply for those entrant "permits" and come on in and work, make far more $$ than they would at home, and then go home in the off season, or apply for permanent status! It's been that way for years. 1000's of these "permits" go unfilled each year from what I understand.

Start a pool cleaning business, Tangy! Hire all the immigrants you want. Legally. Hell, share your home with 'em. No one cares. It's your right to do that. Enjoy humanity, share your wealth. Live how you want to. Per our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms! Just like everyone else. Trouble is, I don't have a pool, or a lawn, or any cherries needing picking. I don't know if it is about us needing immigrants. In the case of asylum, it is about immigrants needing us.

Complete BS, Boris!! Read Luis Alberto Urrea "The Devil's Highway". It will give you just a tad bit of truth about border crossings.
Short story is that people try and cross the desert into AZ all the time. The desert gets some, the rest usually end up with a Border Patrol agent assisting them with the basics of life, like water, medical treatment. Then they usually get sent back where they came from.
