We won the final game to finish at 85-77 for the season. Run differential end up at +91. I was hoping not to have to give the inconsistent Sam Leever another start, but I ended up letting him pitch, and he went out and threw an 8 inning gem. He gave up just 4 hits in 8 shutout innings to finish up at 8.6, 4.75 for the season. Fetters pitched the 9th for his 19th save, and ended up at 4-6 with 19 saves in 50.1 innings and a sparkling 2.68 ERA. The loss went to Jim Palmer in relief. Palmer gave up a solo HR to Tommy Leach, which turned out to be the lone run of the ballgame.

Excellent season from Leach. He played every game and went .292/.340/.412 with 93 runs scored and 95 RBI, which was second on the team. Tommy hit in the 6 hole for most of the season. The Stars got just 5 hits, two by Furillo. We had 7 hits, 2 for Helms and 2 for Speaker. The Grey Eagle went 2 for 3 with a walk and finished at .350 for the season, which was 4th in the batting race. He also finished second in the MVP vote, with Roy Cullenbine finishing 5th. Roy actually was leading for MVP at one point, but he tailed off over the last 6 weeks or so of the season. Lou Boudreau won a Gold Glove at SS to go along with his .311/.371/.416 season, with a league leading 63 doubles. Lou scored 92 runs and had 88 RBI.

Speaker was 5th in runs scored with 140. Cullenbine scored 130 runs, and was 7th in the league with 131 RBI. Speaker finished 9th with 226 hits, and had 55 doubles which was good for third place behind Boudreau and Chick Hafey. Cullenbine was 7th in HRs with 30. Roy was also 5th in walks at 102. Speaker was 5th in OBP at .432. Cullenbine led the team in SLG% at .495. Speaker led the team in OPS at .913.

On the pitching side we did not have much among the leaders, partly because most of our opening day staff was gone before the season was half over. Mitchell was tied for 7th with 8 complete games. Fielding wise, Boudreau was 5th in the league with 22 really good fielding plays. Helms was third in FKD% among 2Bmen with just 6 errors. Boudreau led all SS in FLD% with just 12 errors. Speaker was third in putouts among CFers. Cullenbine was third in putouts among RFers.

Over the course of the season I wrote about several things that I did not like about the sim. so I am gonna finish up here with mainly the good things I have to say.

I REALLY like the game to game changes you have to make with your team. Setting up the bullpen each game, juggling pitchers based on fatigue, etc... Also the waiver wire, which gives you a chance to change players, and I did that a lot, especially with my pitchers. But I was also able to find better hitters at a couple of spots as 3 of the guys I started with just were well below expectations. I got rid of 1969 McCovey, 1930 Cochrane and 1961 Yogi Berra, who was playing LF. They were all well below their expected hitting after about 50 games, so I ended up with Dickey at C, he was great at the plate. Suitcase Simpson replaced Murcer, who was the first replacement for Berra. Bobby came in on fire, but petered out after like 15 games, and Simpson was very good the rest of the way, playing several games at 1B too as I got 4th OFer Byron Buxton into mix. . I first had a later Greenberg season, and he did not do much, so I ended up with Eric Hosmer, who was consistent although unspectacular.

The 5 guys who were regulars all season did very well. Speaker in CF, Cullenbine in RF, Helms at 2B, Boudreau at SS and Leach at 3B. And Roy Mitchell was the one pitcher who was there all season, and he was very good for the first 2/3 of the year, and still ended up with a fine season as my best full time starter.

I think the fatigue that the sim uses is fine for the regulars and the main pitchers. I think it's too harsh on the bench guys and some of the bullpen pitchers, but I able to work around it after awhile when I got used to it.

The box scores and play by play are fine. The leader boards are a bit subpar. There are other categories I'd like to se, like RC/27, XBH, and total bases for hitters and run support, OBP allowed and SLG% allowed for pitchers. Also the leaders for catchers' fielding should have the pct. of runners thrown out stealing for each catcher.

It was a very enjoyable season. Great to be able to micro manage the lineup and bullpen for every game rather than just setting those things every so often like with most sims. My second season is underway. Off to a bad start at 4-8, but my 4 starters have been well below how they should be pitching so far. Things should stabilize soon and we'll see how I do then.

A lot, not all, of those stats are there. Open up the leader board, under split stats, click on extended
