Any attempt to do less than your best is against the rules of fair play. There is no rational that can defend it. Claiming to be "resting" your players is bogus. This is not the NFL people. It is likely not to work anyway. I have had walk-ons who maybe play 1-2 minutes in 50% of my games get injured. There is no way to guarantee that a player won't play unless he is already injured and you put him on Rest.

Putting in Fr or Sophs and claiming that they are there to gain valuable experience is bogus too. Getting them 15-18 minutes in one game instead of their usual 5-8 is not really going to prepare them for the future. They won't gain some sort of magical insite with an extra 10 mpg.

Also, promises are valid all the way through the tournament. They don't end the last game of the regular season. All these are just BS excuses in an attempt to justify "losing".

Will anyone be caught? I highly doubt it but at least this shows effort. To be totally honest, if some other coach intentionally threw a game just to let me into the postseason, I would be ticked. If I can't win on my own, I don't deserve to be there.

Just because they lost doesn't mean they didn't try to win. Did they play all the freshman starter minutes? No, they happened to a lose a game. But they tried to win.

I agree 100% garwood. And although many do it above board, there's always the temptation and certainly the means to abuse. To my knowledge an alias has never been involved in a recruiting battle with themselves. And I'm guessing multiple IDs by the same user have never purchased FSS for the same state.

I agree - you can't control stupidity. However, if it was done intentionally, that's a different story.

Wasn't referring to your post weena, was referring to the UCLA post. I agree with everything you said.

They tried to win yes, to an extent and were disappointed when they lost. But I remember watching the game. They played pedestrian and there wasn't any feeling of desperation to win until the realized that actually may lose to an inferior team. It was more like watching a team play @ 80%-90%, no urgency to win like they would have should that have been a NT game. Cal had a losing record that season (14-16 overall regular season, 6-12 pac 10) and lost 10 of their last 12 in conference play. UCLA obviously should have won that game if they played their all. You have to assume the CT wasn't priority #1 for them but they were looking ahead to the NT.

Depending on the team I have I change my line-up a lot. I started a freshman in a tournament game that I had never started. He had a 99 defense so I used him to try to slow down their center. How would know my logic? You would only see me start someone I had never started before. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING. IT COULD CAUSE A LOT MORE TROUBLE THAN ITS WORTH! People should not throw games. Just be careful!!!!!!

What does this have to do with player improvement?

Wow, this forum most have a high quantity of ignorant children. There are people actually COMPLAINING about the fact that they do not want people losing games on purpose. WOW.

Nobody is saying you can't adjust your lineup. They are saying you can't completely tank in a game. They said they'd review it on a case by case basis. Holy cow some people here are the biggest babies I've ever encountered.

I wish I could win a conference tourney game. Instead, I'm favored by 30 against a Sim and lose by 10.

I second kowboy, everyone needs to just shut up and focus on winning every game they possibly can. Let the chips fall, it's ridiculous to look into this this much.

Anyone who wants to throw a game against me in the post season.. Feel Free!

People are not complaining about someone simply losing a game on purpose.

What people are complaining about is the fact that there are some people who have bragged about tanking the conference championship game when they are a NT lock, so that the conference gets an extra NT bid. They did this so that they would get a little more money (but probably not enough to make it worth them getting a lower seed).

This takes away a spot from an at-large team who actually deserved to be there. That's what makes it everybody's business.

You play the game to win.

i agree you shouldn't throw games, but i also think it helps increase ratings faster if you can give a backup an occassional start. so just because you play your backups doesn't mean you are throwing a game. i am starting a backup (pre-potential player) in my 1st conference game, and in others where i am pretty sure i can win easily. i am doing it for the future...
