What's up with Cazenovia? Just realized those requests were never accepted and we now have random simAI's in those spots.

OK. I just got a chance to check out the schedules and you are correct in that Cazenovia has no Shootout games scheduled. krausjd is still listed as the coach, and according to the Sitemail record, he did in fact read the 9/28 sitemail I sent about the schedule for this Shootout.

I am prepared to deal with this in the following manner:

For now, as it pertains to Shootout XIII, we will obviously only be playing 7 games, and the NJAC conference games involving Cazenovia will not be counted in the Shootout. I will try again to contact krausjd through sitemail and the NJAC coaches corner. If he responds and it is clear that he hasn't turned Cazenovia into a ghost ship and intends on continuing for XIV, we will reinstate the school and add in forfeits for record-keeping.

If krausjd doesn't respond, then we will try and round up a replacement in time to schedule and add to Shootout XIV.

OK. krausjd reports that he had some imternet issues late last season and did not intend for this situation to occur. He will be continuing with us for next season.

For purposes of this Shootout, all Cazenovia games will be forfeit wins by the forfeit score of 2-0.

My first Shootout victory.

Glad Cazenovia can stick with us.

Game 2 Highlights

#7 William Paterson 77
Maryville- St. Louis 71

Stephen Funchess has a monster game with 21 points and 13 boards as WPU pulls away from a halftime tie at MSL. MSL SG Don Fitzgibbons paces the defeated side with 20 points. Interesting Game Note: WPU is called for a grand total of 6 fouls in 40 minutes of play

Richard Stockton 63
Martin Luther 48

Richard Stockton handles Martin Luther on the road, led by a combined 29 points by the starting backcourt combo of Darren Lindquist and Aaron Anderson.

#3 Rockford 68
Curry 55

Rockford goes on the road and rebounds from their opening round defeat at Washington (MO). Joseph Smyth leads the way with 18 points

#12 Eastern 57
Averett 59

Unranked Averett pulls off the upset at home over Eastern. Eastern's Joe Dahl led all scorers with 24 points, but he proved to be a one-man show for the visitors, as Averett got 54 of its 59 points from its starting 5 in balanced fashion. Eastern rallied from a 14 point defecit with 3 minutes to go but was unable to overcome a slow start in the first half.

Game of the Day
#9 Rowan 69
#23 U.S. Coast Guard 72

Prior to the game, connor81 noted that andersaa and the USCG has had Rowan's number as of late, but seemed hopeful that today would bring a different outcome. A new Shootout however, brought more of the the same results. USCG went into the locker room down by 4 points and then saw Rowan's lead grow to 11 points with 11:39 to go. Over the ensuing 8 minutes, USCG went on a 19-8 run to take over the lead. Rowan, refusing to die, got to within 3 with 40 seconds to go on a shot by C Joel Murray, and then blocked a USCG shot with 10 seconds to go. At the buzzer however, the possible game-tying 3 by Steven Wilcox was harrasssed enough by a double team to miss the mark and seal the victory for USCG.

Even though we are only two games into the proceedings, this is shaping up to be one of the strongest Shootout's ever. As of the new rankings today, we have 6 of the 12 teams in the Top 20, including #4, #5, #6 (WMO, ROCK and WPU) to go along with #16, #18 and #19 (ROW, USCG and EU). Additionally, Cazenovia and Richard Stockton are on Others Receiving Votes.

Big, Big Game in the next slot between Rockford and William Paterson.

It hurts so bad!!!

This tournament really does showcase some of the top programs around right now. I would not be shocked at all to see Shootout teams dominating the top of the SOS rankings by the end of non con.

Would be interesting to calculate the shootout RPI in the same manner that conference RPI's are found at the end of the season and see where we come in.

I'm a little on the swamped side of things here today so recaps for today's games are going to have to take a backseat.

Congrats to serb and Rockford for putting me away in the last 5 minutes earlier today.
