the SIM of course is different from real life in a host of ways, and rightly so

on the other hand, the existence of a certain result in real life, indeed within days of a supposedly noteworthy event in the SIM, does make the event in the SIM seem a bunch less odd or extreme or whatever

one would think that someone who - for example - urged a certain approach to rankings and pointed and his own rankings of teams in real life - would see that real life and its events can be relevant to discussions of the SIM -

odd that one would call someone an "idiot" for reasoning that parallels one's own

I'm calling anyone who doesn't think that the sim can/should be different from real life an idiot, because if you don't/can't understand that there are many different factors in each "game" that determine outcomes, what other conclusion can you come to?

The rankings thing is really apples to oranges. WIS uses what RL uses (human polls and RPI/SOS) and if used/applied properly, it would work just fine. There's no doubt in my mind that if my RL rankings were used here, that you would see the same quality here as you do in my RL rankings because nothing will have changed in the implementation.

and to be 100% clear, colonel - I have no problem with you personally, but your fast a loose use of words and alleged logic and name calling and hostility on these boards do sometimes bother me - I like most of these folks, respect them and their opinions and enjoy this game

Let's look at my initial response to aintheb, shall we?

I'm saying IF HE DOESN'T see this, then I'd be wasting my time with an idiot....I'm not necessarily calling him an idiot, its all dependent on his response back to see if he sees that the 2 should be different or not. Anyone who thinks this is an idiot to me and there's no reason to debate with someone that thinks the the sim and RL should operate the same way and that RL should somehow be the barometer/justification stick for everything that happens.

The name calling has become a bit of a joke now, I use the term boob very loosely...did it earlier in a thread somewhere to participate in the banter. If people are upset that I choose to sometimes use their first names, tough...you can use mine all you want, you know where it is and guess what, I'm not offended if you call me Trevor *GASP*!

edit: TREVOR- i think i know the problem. you come in here and you get in long arguments like on this thread. people dont respect you- that is a fact. the reason people dont respect you is because you have had no success in HD. your lack of success makes it hard for me to value your opinions on things like the game engine. if you went out and showed you could make some sweet 16s and then some final fours that would impress me and show me along with the other users you knew what you were doing. i feel like im rambling but i think you get the point: win some games.

and Phillip, although I think that some of what you say makes a sense - see for example the minutes complaint thread - this sort of argument fritters away your credibility
