I wonder why a guy like Tim Floyd keeps getting chances while a guy like Quinn Snyder hasn't really been mentioned.

Eamonn Brennan wrote, about Oregon's search:

Oregon has largely bumbled this coaching search, shooting for names -- Tom Izzo? Jamie Dixon? -- that were laughably out of its range.

It didn't work, and now Oregon has to go back to the drawing board. The list of Oregon rejections (Izzo, Dixon, Mark Few, Billy Donovan, Mark Turgeon, Tubby Smith, Brad Stevens, everyone else with a pulse) presents a pretty clear road map for where Oregon needs to look next -- at assistant coaches and mid-major guys.

The problem is that the coaching carousel has nearly stopped; there are few viable candidates available.

Sources have told the New York Daily News the Rutgers job likely will go to former Ohio State coach Jim O Brien.

O’Brien coached BC for 11 years in the Big East, taking the Eagles to the Elite Eight in 1994. O'Brien to take over the head coaching job at Ohio State in 1998, and led the Buckeyes to the Final Four the next year. He was fired in 2004 for alleged NCAA rules violations.

After a trial in which the former chairman of the NCAA Infractions Committee testified that O'Brien had not engaged in any NCAA violations, the Ohio Court of Claims ruled that the school had breached its contract with O'Brien by terminating him and awarded O'Brien $2.4 million. O'Brien has been out of college coaching since.

The onetime coach at St. Bonaventure was twice named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in his four seasons before replacing Gary Williams at BC.
