I went to duke, know duke's history, and accusations of a shady past about coach k are simply absurd. not claiming duke has never broken any rules, but calling them shady in comparison to the rest of major college hoops is just ridiculous.

coach strickland should be fired for having another dui. (the reason he was hired is his past 2(and only 1 where he was convicted ) was off his record because it had been more than 10 years. i think it is a personal choice a coach makes weather to give someone a change that has a checkered past, but if cal didnt someone would have.

as for the ESPN thing, at worst we could be #2, il give Ucla there credit for most titles, cause thats what matters most. but even that has been proven to be full of cheating. so, i ask you again dook fan, where is your proof that we (uk) have cheated with coach cal, i challenge you to give proof that cal ever cheated-- ever.

wow, simply ludicrous. maggette should have never gone to duke even though duke did close to nothing wrong in that scenario, you'll notice duke hasn't recruited players like maggette since. you are deluded at best, ignorant at worst.

I did some quick research on this topic through a couple different sources including thetruthaboutduke.com I think it was, its very anti-duke, as well as CBS sports.

I found out that Maggette had received money for playing summer league ball with a coach named, Piggie. This was the wrong doing by Maggette which got him suspended after the fact basically after he was in the NBA.

In the end you can say Duke should vacate the games which might be true, but it was not Duke whom paid the players. It wasn't even a booster from Duke who payed the players. It was a summer coach who had multiple players he had paid that went to multiple D1 schools.

I am not trying to defend Duke but just give the facts here, most schools would probably have to vacate their wins and they got lucky. The story is though Coach K did not in this circumstance pay his players or do anything that was wrong

is he a rat-faced a-hole? check.

does he constantly scream at refs and players until he turns red and spits? check.

does he drive away talented players and consistently destroy the mentally weak bigs he keeps signing? check.

is he sleeping with Wojo? maybe.

but does he run a "dirty" program? dubious. If anything, he stays away from talented-but-uninterested-in-school kids more than any major coach except Gary Williams (and he nearly got fired over it).

even the K screams at and hates the refs caricature is no longer really accurate, watch him all game long and he sits there silent with his hand on his chin 85% of the time.

not sure what genuinely talented players K has driven away, most who leave realize they'll never earn playing time or simply wont/cant embrace the Duke offense and defense. I think duke would have more talented big men if more big guys could do better than the minimum on the SAT and actually make it thru duke classes

I'm as much a Duke-hater as the next guy, but I'd wager a pretty good sum that Coach K and the program are clean.

If true, it's interesting that the high school coach was paying the rent. I'll bet he was hoping to be Bledsoe's agent.

It's also mystifying why the NCAA Clearinghouse will declare a player eligible, then have second thoughts later. There's certainly nothing in these new allegations that wasn't readily apparent while Bledsoe was still in high school.

If the NCAA approves a player's eligibility, it hardly seems right to come back later and blame the colleges.

At worst, it will again be a situation where Calipari and the university did nothing wrong, but the freshman they signed should never have been declared eligible by the NCAA clearinghouse. As a result, UK would have to vacate last season. Calipari would then hold the record for most vacated NT games.

The system of major amateur athletics being run through universities is amazingly ludicrous to me.

But UK knew this was the risk of hiring Calipari.

I agree that players who do these things should be stripped of their eligibility.

I do not think that the colleges should loss games though, unless the school or the coach has something to do with the charges.

If UK or Calipari in some way gave that coach money to recruit Bledsoe, then they should be punished.

If UK or Calipari had anything to do with changing his transcript, they should be punished.

If the kid and his high school coach did it, I don't think Calipari or UK should be punished.

Nor do I think Duke or Coach K should have been punished for Corey Magette. The player and the person who payed him, sure. But not the school or that school's coach.

But certainly if Memphis is vacated for Rose and if UK is vacated for Bledsoe (if the facts remain the same as now) where the school didn't do anything wrong, then Duke should be too. There needs to be consistency.

There is a bunch of hate there, but if you sift through it there are links to factual stuff. I admire Coach K, but I doubt that he is a saint.
