But the results we're seeing would have been information readily available to them with even the most rudimentary pre-release testing. Which, from all accounts, is about the nicest thing you could call the testing they did.
We? The results I've seen personally in Smith are not at all wildly out of whack.

As for whether the things people are ******** about would have been fine-tuned better with more extensive beta testing... probably. But seble apparently didn't have the resources to do a full, multi-season beta, with a team of dedicated testers focusing on specific issues -- which is what it would have taken.

So, instead, we get a live launch with a product that about 95% to where seble wants it, and because of the code re-write seble is now able to react quickly once the 5% becomes apparent through game-play, rather than having those issues drag out through multiple seasons.

Does that make us beta testers? Not really.

Does that make the hysterical public freakouts we're seeing from the likes of mmt and sully justified? Not hardly.
The results I've seen in Phelan and Tark are, so I guess I win 2-1. ;)

I think that 95% ratio isn't any less pulled out of your *** than if I were to say it's only about 80% where it should be.

I am very disappointed in this whole thing and, at best, it probably means I drop another team. Maybe some would consider that freaking out, I don't know. I consider it being my voice as a consumer.

i was against changing the engine to begin with as i knew there would be alot of problems and changes and i just don't have the time nor do i care as much as some to deal with all of them.

the interesting thing to me is that it seems that alot of the people that wanted the engine change and "threatened" to leave if it wasn't changed are now "threatening" to leave since it did change. if anyone thought this was going to be a smooth transition they were/are kidding themselves. i've been playing this game since Day 1 and any significant changes have been a total "cluster****" including the original version of the game itself. does anyone remember the "evaluation glitch" that allowed recruitment of top DI players to play in DIII? original rollout of individual offensive production settings was a nightmare too. on and on and on. they happened and we got through it. we'll get through this too.

this game is for fun. roll with it or quit. the stress being caused for some of you is unhealthy and you should probably consider a new hobby. Believe it or not, the game will live on without you.

nams I think I was just starting when the d1 players were getting recruited by d3 teams.

I think some of the frustration with this engine, was the wrong 'perception' that was written (and still is being sold) by the apologist crowd that the engine is going to save the world, no wrong sim ever would occur, the better player would stand out in each matchup, etc, etc, etc - pretty hard to explain ray allen's last two games using that 'never fail' logic???

as you so astutuely pointed out, this college buckets sim business is a tough one, I actually have been surprised how good the new engine has been, but still think it is only about 80% as good as the old one - give seble 6 mos to a year, this engine should get pretty darned awesome, it appears he now has a handle on which buttons to push to change the engine, that is a great start.

Right now, we are working through the flaws, as you seem to realize, more will be coming, we haven't even hit the first snag, were some guy with a 625 team wins a d1 national title playing a +5, dt the guards, starts 5 guards, and leads the nation in rebounding type thing - it is coming.

Do you think that Ray Allen sent in an expletive laced email to David Stern yet?

I may have had an expletive lasced tirade at my tv last night. Boston needed to win that game....Allen goes 5-15 they win easy.

HAHAHA although I don't like Apple, that is pretty funny, but did it not work after?

And my point was that Apple and game developers have a dedicated team of their own, to catch and fix the problems they find.

Love how you just take a snippet of my original post!!! Awesome job

Did you just try to imply that WIS has more servers than Facebook, one of the most popular sites on the web?
I am trying to imply that you maintaining your personal and simplistic facebook webpage is not the same as managing a bank of application servers for 9 different game simulators.

Yes, I can imagine you would like to believe that.

Yeah, that's not dedicated testing.

If seble had shot you an email and told you to spend the next six hours checking every combination of menu settings on the Team Game Plan page -- every offense in combination with every tempo in combination with every defense, every possible +/- setting, every possible 'start fouling when' setting, etc etc, would you have done it?
