still have 5 of the 6 guys I was targeting for my 5th and 6th picks with only 2 picks in before my #5.  Now it's just a matter of deciding who I want, as I was pretty sure my choices would be down to 2-3

Judging purely by payrolls to keep things simple, I get the feeling I am off to a bad start.  Here are my totals so far, through 5 (6) rounds:
1961: 22.8m (28.9m) (7 picks, 30.4m) (8 picks, 31.8m) (9 picks, 36.3m) (10 - 36.5m) (11- 40.5m)
1962: 21.3m (22.6m) (7 picks, 25.3m) (8 picks, 26.4m) (9 picks, 27.9m) (10 - 29.3m) (11- 32.9m)
1963: 23.8m (26.2m) (7 picks, 28.0m) (8 picks, 28.2m) (9 picks, 32.6m) (10 - 37.2m) (11- 40.0m)
1964: 21.6m (21.6m) (6 picks, 23.6m) (7 picks, 24.9m) (8 picks, 28.2m) (  9 - 30.9m) (10- 33.7m)
1965: 21.4m (24.6m) (7 picks, 27.6m) (8 picks, 29.0m) (9 -29.5m) (10- 29.9m)
I bet some of you are well over $30m per season so far.  Anyone else have their picks loaded for comparison?

Well, I ended up getting #1 and #3 on my list. Only mazeroski was taken from my top 6 choices. I'll get my 5 season projection probably Friday, cause that's the next time I'll be near a computer!

Zoilo Versalles SS selected by outbacker

I didn't want to get into a piece and match at SS, so I selected Zoilo.  He hits well for his position and is good in the Field.  I've learned that if you try to go with a less than average Fielder at SS that you will pay through the nose. In a 1971 League that, I'm just finishing up, I have Bert Campaneris playing SS Fielding C/D-.  Bert's made 40 Errors with 21 Negative Plays and 0 Positve Plays. I've learned!

Starting to think my team will be playing for the future. Through 6 picks I am just a little over $29 million spent and I don't see it getting any better as the talent is drying up, if not dried up.

In just 2 Years a dramatic change!  And Baseball will be forever changed.  The 61 Pitchers need a chance to grow up and Scouts better stay active because there's going to be an influx of new outstanding Pitchers entering our league in the coming years.  So don't worry about those 61 Pitchers.  Who's ever left is a has been  Pork Chop.  Build your Teams with Position Players and make it intresting for your fans.  The Pitchers are on their way!
1961 and 1962 were expansion years.Pitching picks up tremendously in 1965 Carlton,Palmer.Hunter.Wisw and I think Rudy may come on.IN 1966 Sutton and jenkins.1967 Seaver.

not to mention the 15 or so quality starters from 62-64, I also count 24 quality starters from 65-69, which gives us almost 40 quality starters in the next 8 years.

Zoilo sure came close to getting drafted the previous night.  I'm trying to remember why he didn't.  My scouts must have had a preference for 2B instead of SS.
10/27/2011 1:21 AM

Hm-Zolio did tell me that he received a Phone call from one of your Scouts the night before, asking him some general questions, but he never heard back.  The Scouts name was Antonio Jesipi.  Maybe you could call him a find out what happened, I'd be curious to know.  Thanks

10/27/2011 9:29 AM
I'd never heard of Mr. Jesipi until getting a note from him that said Versalles would be washed up by his late 20s.  Makes me wonder how Zoilo answered those general questions of his.
10/28/2011 12:34 AM
After I drafted Tony Kubek as my color commentator of the future, bigjc drafted my favorite color commentator - Joe Nuxhall.  I wonder if there will be any trade talks in the late 60s when they've both retired from playing.
10/30/2011 9:44 AM
Zoilo said that the questions, that Jesipi asked him were;
1-Martial Status
2-Food Preferences
3-Hobbies
4-Other Teams who have contacted Zoilo
5-Experience in Playing Baseball

Wally Moon OF selected by outbacker

Wally .328 Averg. 17 HR's 17 Slug. .515 will Bat 3rd in the Lineup.

1-Lenny Green CF
2-Zoilo Versalles SS
3-Wally Moon LF
4-Norm Cash 1B
5-Ken Boyer 3B
6-
7-
8-

Wally Moon will provide the Team with a sweet #3 Hitter, who will hit in front of Norm Cash and give the Team some punch in the middle of the Line Up.  Of course what allowed Wally to drop in the Draft is the fact that he's a questionable fielder and only a 1 Year(61) Player.
