I happen to think it's giving him an unfair advantage. Plain and simple. Whether it's "cheating" depends on one's opinion, I believe.

*It's off the subject, but I have to ask-Why is it so difficult for some to post replies on the Forums without dropping a "STFU" or a "You suck" or some other smart-a@# answer? I was simply trying to get some opinions, that's all. People complain about growing this game...why would anyone new to HD want to ask a question when they're going to get talked-down to or told to STFU?  Just my two cents.

I'll back you up here EG3... for users who are new to this game, an argumentative atmosphere isn't going to make them any more likely to stick around and will probably hinder their learning experience. The forum posts are often very aggressive, and that's fine if it's with other experienced coaches, but as EG3 said, on a post like this directed toward a new user there's no need for it.
ill back you up too. drives me crazy. although i guess i just did it, but thats to colonels, he doesn't count.

ive tried to make a stand against the aggressive attitude, even sitemailed a number of the biggest offending "vets" back at one point, but i think its a lot cause. people just like to be dicks, i guess

Just having multiple teams does not mean you cheat.  Having multiple teams means you can learn a lot more from more experiences.  When this game started, I had 4 and in some cases 5 teams in multiple worlds.  It was not because I was cheating, it was because I enjoyed the game and had plenty of free time.

Granted unlike the situation in the OP, I never scheduled my own team for OOC games.  There was a time or 2 before we were able to schedule our own games that I ended up playing my own team, but it was not fun knowing I was going to lose one of my games.

I became one of the most successful coaches in this game in the early half of this game's existence by trial and error.  I had about 16-20 teams in 5 different worlds going at one point.  As a result I had a LOT of opportunities to try new things.  I've always had the mentality of high risk means high reward, and so on the high risk parts of the game, I would try it out on one team and if it worked I would continue to use it on the rest of my teams.  If it didn't, I would be hurt on 1 of 16 teams, so it wasn't that bad.  This is how I think the top coaches are utilizing their other teams.  I'm certain there are some coaches who do cheat, but I wouldn't say we are in the small minority of those who do not cheat.  Then again, I might be one of the few with integrity and naive to think others are the same way.
i don't think you are, although, i often wonder if i am being naive, too. i think that most people enjoy strategy games, the competitive and whatever nature of it. "winning" in a strategy game by cheating pretty much invalidates the feeling of satisfaction, 100%, for me. when i was a kid, i would cheat in card games when i had NO respect for the competition, because i was bored i guess, and it was more amusing than the game, but never would think of doing it when i respected my competition. anyway, without money involved, i just don't see most people cheating at something they have any respect for - and if you look at the time put in by most of the coaches in this game - i think most of them respect the game and their competition.

C'mon, somebody else send a ticket.  If we get colonels banned we'll have the fun of figuring out what his new alias is!
My aliai....statsink, kgb_sickle, juran_ovito...you realize you don't have proof, right?..and that I never technically said I did it
you've opening stated, technically and otherwise, that you cheat. people know it, but you are a complete joke, so i dont think anybody really cares. if cheating got your teams to be, you know, a LITTLE bit good, then maybe. but if you cheat your way to being terrible, well, keep on truckin fella
Sounds like u need to do some research, my friend...how can i be "cheating" with only a team in tark and a team in phelan with this ID, and i havent used my other IDs in over a year? You're under suspicion by default because u mentioned u have multiple teams in the same world, and regardless of how pious u are, u have the opportunity to "cheat"...just cuz u seem like a good/stand up/nice guy (keep in mind i'm not saying u are) doesn't let u off the hook...i mean more power to u, i could give a ****, but understand how u can come off like a hypocrite here.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
Whether people "cheat" or not doesnt matter to me anyhow, it's when the whiny babies want to cry about something that isnt that big a deal that gets me going...btw, you cant "cheat" if u only have one id with active teams...i've given the kvetchers a solution...

Not to name call, but he seems like a jerk.  As I said earlier, if you have a D1 team and a D3 team it gives you a ridiculous recruiting advantage at the D3 level.  It isn't a 2-3k difference, but something like a 10k-20k difference.  You are able to scout 10-20 states rather than 2-5.  There should be a way to only have D1 teams see the scouting reports for D1 and the top half of D2 players or something like that.
Or you could just make FSS free to everyone and completely eliminate that kind of "cheating"...a lot of u guys would rather just cry about the way things are as opposed to pushing for/implementing a solution. Either way, its not a big deal
So are you saying its fine to break the law as long as you don't like it?
Arss, as always apples and oranges...it's kind of like Al Bundy says, "It's only cheating, if you get caught".

Possessing pot is breaking the law and I have a fair amount of friends that partake, I'm not one of them, but by the same token I'm not whistle-blowing/trying to get them arrested...I don't really care...that's their life and that's what they choose.

It's impossible to police/enforce the "don't buy FSS for your other team" rule...so much gray area...thus like I said, you really want the problem solved, make FSS free to everyone.  Dropping $13 to "cheat" with FSS is basically allowed...you want it to stop...push for my solution.

. . its only cheating if you get caught? Seriously?

I think people are seriously overstating the value of having multiple IDs.  "cheating" would be hacking into the game code somehow and making your players better.  If some dopes are wasting their money to get a little more recruiting information, whatever.

idk about overstating anything, but using multiple IDs to get FSS data from other states (or using 1 school to scout everything and spending no FSS money with the other to save it for battles or whatever) is clearly cheating. I'm not really making any kind of a deal about it, I barely give a f (about the cheating that is) - I care about not calling it cheating though - some people probably do it, whatever, but lets call it what it is, shall we?

Just to clarify , you're saying that in your opinion cheating is justified as long as you have no respect for the competition.  Wow, that's...............interesting.

It would seem to me that cheating is inherently and by its very nature disrespecting the competition.

Erk!  Misread.  I read it as "As long as you have respect for the competition' and completely missed the 'no'.  Doesn't make it any less off though.

I think your comment would still be appropriate.

I believe it comes down to "do you know its wrong and do you do it anyway".  I now have two teams, two usernames, in two worlds.  I have had as many as three usernames and 10 teams.  I had the other usernames because I wanted to move up to D2, and once to D1, but keep a team in the D3 conference I was in with a great group of guys.  I never used scouting information from one team to recruit for another.  Sorry, thats just not me.  I wasn't even tempted. I knew it was wrong and so I didn't do it.
I know a few great coaches who have multiple teams, in multiple worlds, and I know for a fact that they are just like me, and cheating doesn't come into the equation at all.  We play the game because we love it, and win or lose, what's the fun if you have to cheat to win?  There is no satisfaction in that.

I will also say that I have seen coaches sharing information about FSS, or offering to in CCs.  If it is someone I know, I send them a SM.  If it is someone I don't know I send a ticket and ask Admin to send a friendly message to the coaches.  I know some may know it's wrong and do it anyway, but I would like to believe they may be new and just don't know better and a friendly message from Admin is appropriate.  If someone is cheating, knows its wrong, and keeps it hiden, I feel sorry for you.  I really do.  Its just a game amoungst friends and it may say something about your ethics in your personal and work life.  I hope not, but I can't judge you, I can only judge myself.

This post may sound preachy.  That is not the intent.  I could win a lot more if I had the time, or was willing to search for shortcuts.  I don't.  But I do enjoy the game and my friendships here, and I respect the game, my fellow coaches, and myself too much to cheat.  But that's just me.

Everyone would be better off if they stop feeding colonels. He tries his damnedest to be Villain #1 with his posts. He has quite a bit of attention whore in him as evidenced by this thread and when he was practically begging to be selected for a WIS interview.
