I like how you go from "nothing against you personally" to "you're a mediocre coach."

Grit - you're a douche (nothing against you personally).

Saying you're a mediocre coach isn't personal, it's just a statement of fact backed up by your track record. I'm sorry if you take that personally. I still think you are a wonderful person and would love to share a lemonade with you some day.

You can tell a referee, "You have produced mediocre results." You can't tell a referee, "You are a mediocre referee." Girt, you are not a douche, but you have produced douchey statements.

^^^At least that's how I think the argument goes.

It is odd that girt has quoted every post, but conveniently skipped over jck's point about him only have 1 NT win before going to Northwestern, maybe now that ard has reiterated that point he'll address it. But I guess that's the way things go, you make an argument, and then somebody brings up a point that strongly discredits your argument so you ignore it. I can already guess the retort of "I never said I deserved the Northwestern job."

As some of the vets here likely know/remember, I took over this account from another coach after he was at NW. If you want to say I'm a jerk or this or that, that's fine. But you'll have a time time finding fault with my resume in any world.

I didn't skip over it, kmason. Quoted again above.

You should read more carefully before going into attack mode.
You actually didn't answer the question, which is why I asked again.  Your answer was that you took over the account.

This really comes down to, "Is the flaw beneficial for me?" and it was for that account, so no complaints.  When it comes to someone else...

Well ... wrong. (Again.)

Look back and read (again). I said, "Pretty simple, I would say that he (girt) shouldn't have been able to make that jump at the time, either."

So no, it has nothing to do with beneficial for me or not. I think you should have to have more success before getting a BCS job, whether that's jck's account, my account or anyone else's.

I might make douchey statements (appreciate that distinction from above, lol) ... but I'm not out for my own self interest. Anyone really familiar with these forums should know that. I routinely campaign for things that would not help me (like getting rid of the 5-man EE rule, etc.)

Well...not wrong again, or at all, because at the time I had posted my original question, you didn't answer it.  Your answer of "I took over the account" was not an answer.  That is what my last post was in reference to.

I'm not going to waste anymore time with this though, have a great day!

Girt, I was just having fun, I had a smile on the whole time I wrote that post. Every now and again I get bored, and look to start some drama.

From SEC.... In the real word, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Auburn... all hired coaches who hadn't won a game in the dance.

Pushing around sims and weak sisters in a lower level HD conference is easy. Racking up 20+ wins and making the postseason just isn't that hard at that level of competition. It's nothing compared to real life.

The real-life SEC comparison holds even less water. In real life, guys often earn their stripes as top assistants. There's nothing like that here. Andy Kennedy is a Mississippi boy who got the Ole Miss job after being a top asst at Cincy and UAB. Rick Ray (Miss State) was an asst at Purdue and Clemson. Neither had been a coach before. Barbee (Auburn) was a head coach for four seasons and took UTEP to the tourney.

On the other hand, you'd been a head coach for 30 seasons and won just a single NT game (1-7). So to make the comparison from above is totally disingenuous on several levels. I'm happy for you that you got the UT job and hope you do well there. But that's different than saying that you deserved it.
"So to make the comparison from above is totally disingenuous on several levels."

from the MASTER
of calling people out for faulty logic, you go on and talk about being a head coach for 30 seasons, in a system that ONLY CONSIDERS THE LAST FOUR SEASONS? you have ONE ground to stand on. 3NT 1s and 1 PT2, justifying his job. THATS IT. get off your damn high horse, you are no better than these people you call out. and even IF jck's getting TN is a travesty, its not one tenth the travesty this thread is. period.
