Park Factor Changes - Coming November/December Topic

What will happen to minor league parks? Many teams have changed their minor league affiliates.
You know there are no city-based affiliates in HBD, right? It is basically like it is a complex league, say in Arizona. All of your minor-league teams use stadiums with the same dimension of your major-league team.

This is incorrect. If you want to see the dimensions and park factors of your minor league teams, got to World/Reports/Ballparks and change the drop down box to the level you want. You'll see they're different for each level.

Just like MLB, HBD needs to grow internationally.

Wow. Something I had no idea about. Appreciate the correction, dedelman.

Does anyone know if this is still on the docket?

Not sure if this will help, but I also know that some folks have asked about ballpark factors and Baseball America just released its findings following the 2021 season:

Is there an update on when this update will be going live?

Latest I read was from the "After More Than a Decade" thread. The first part of the below was the 11.02.2021 patch regarding team name changes and roster glitches. The second part mentions the park updates, but there still is no timeframe on when that will go live.

Excerpt from the After More Than a Decade thread:
A lot of the HBD features coming out here soon are "make life easier" tools. Allowing user's to change their own team name and a couple of consistent roster glitch issues. The injury updates is currently being worked on and park updates is one of the next up to be developed. Still no time frame as we're trying to get some other tests done for some of the updates coming out for other games (ie GD DIA playoff format).

Excerpt from the 11.02.2021 patch:
-Remove Retired Players in off-season: Seemingly every year we have a problem where a player retires early but is not cleared off rosters. This forces games to fail unknowingly for a lot of players. So this is a bug fix and support tool to fix that.
-Support Tool For Modifying Draft: Sometimes we have to manually adjust draft picks order and comp picks in the database directly which is onerous. This tool allows our support staff to assist commissioners in re allocating and modifying draft slots and adding picks in rare circumstances.
-Players taken off waivers cannot be assigned: In some cases players taken off waivers cannot be assigned to roster because “they are not under contract”. This is a bug fix to correct that error.
-Team Name Change: Small update to allow team name changes by user in season. This alleviates the need to open support tickets and have our staff simply change team names

I was reading some of the HD forums this morning, and they said that some of the HD updates that were supposed to be November/December will likely happen in December/January because they are currently testing them to make sure they work. This is purely conjecture, but my educated guess is that these rollouts would be on a similar timeline

Is the order of the factors in Adlorenz's post different than what we see daily in the game? I thought it currently goes 1B-2B-3B-HRL-HRR, right? If so, what will it be after the new release?

Also, if reading correctly, Wrigley is going from -1 for triples to now being +2??? No way Wrigley should be plus-anything as it relates to triples.

Changes to factors at Dodger Stadium also seem drastic

Here's a link to spreadsheet showing all the new parks/factors and how the factors are changing for all the prior parks. Feel free to edit/add if something is incorrect. Also shows what divisions each park was eligible for.

As long as this change is delayed, let’s get Worcester (Polar Park) on the list!

With most of the new ballpark ratings being basically neutral and very similar, why even have ballpark ratings as part of HBD anymore????

Many owners have spent several seasons molding their teams to play well in pitcher or hitter friendly ballparks. Now all that time/effort will be undone in an instant, basically wasted. I am not opposed to updating ballpark ratings to current real life. All I am asking for is to still have a few pitcher and hitter friendly parks available so that owners can continue to use that strategy in the game.

Thanks for the spreadsheet.

Sad thing is that the East no longer has even 1 ballpark that comes close to being a hitter friendly park. All are now mostly neutral or slightly pitcher friendly. Leads me to seriously consider dropping out of the world where I have an East division team as it is set up for a hitter friendly park. Sure wish they would leave 2 or 3 hitter friendly options available for each division..

I would like to have a default park setting per city location, but build an option to let the player determine the specs separately if they wanted as a custom modification. Let the citizens of Tacoma see a home run once in a while!
