I drafted my team based on 'prime' (five year span, mixed with longevity and what each guy brought to the table)

Nobody would have realized this but my team shoots an insane amount of free-throws and hits an around 80%

Have to say I can't understand what people see in a team or two, and what they think is missing from another team or two, but that's the "beauty" of something so subjective, especially when no real criteria for voting was ever established.

I hated Malone's team....why did he pick Bird first?

I thought we were drafting teams based on season or couple of seasons of excellence.

Really bad translation, since I liked the Bird pick, and voted you 4th, which is higher than you finished.

I didn't vote either-kind of pointless I think.  Enjoyed this for the most part though.    I thought basically all the teams were solid.  There is just no way for most of us to vote.  Most here never saw half these guys play and honestly who can say what would happen across eras like this.  Pretty much impossible to vote head to head games.  Some people did a very nice job drafting.

I probably did but since I was in the process of setting up my own theme league's draft (aka lot of SMs) I probably missed it or read it and didn't pay attention because, frankly, this was unimportant.

no just that...but yeah I really, really hate Rick Barry, but I also really, really hate Vince.  I think history (even recent as it may be) looks WAY too favorably on the career of Chauncey.

I feel in real life Vince and Barry the ***** would take all of the good things away that the rest of your team does.  Plus neither one of them will play D or attempt anything with any real effort except for scoring.

Everything I read about Barry calls him the original Larry Bird.  What part of 17% assist says "no real effort"?   He lead a team to a Finals sweep when they were the team that was supposed to be swept.  Barry had a 99 career d rating.

As for Vince, he can't lead a team but he can sure be a 4th option.  Nice passing stats there too as opposed to some scorers drafted in the league.

Chauncey just got his team to the WCF, (6th time in a row in the CF).   Just coincidence I suppose.   What has CP3 done besides beat a flat Lakers team?  (I forgot, NOLA lost that series)

Barry could shoot like Bird, but every teammate he had hated him because he was all about getting his own stats.  He basically refused at times to play D and he was known to be a miserable human being....

THIS GETS TO WHAT I STRUGGLED WITH THE MOST ABOUT THIS LEAGUE AND THE DRAFT

The great questions are:

1.  At what time do I get that player?
2.  Can I make that player do what I want?

This is why I felt like Barry and VC were albatrosses to your team (as well as Billups).  If I can change their mentality then you have an incredible team, but Barry is going to ***** if he doesn't get his touches, Vince is going to quit especially if he isn't one of the top two scorers on the floor, and Billups is going to jack up bad shots and many times at a less than opportune moment (but he will play D unlike the others).

If you could make Billups, Barry, and Robertson (which with Alvin it wont be hard) feed to post and shoot spot up jumpers as well as let Barry create from time to time, then yes your team is much, much better.

But...

If they are supposed to play like they do in real life then an uninspired Barry and VInce are going to hate playing with Billups and the usage hogs you have down low (I say usage hogs, but I can totally handle the kind of usage hogs they are...and the play awesome D...I would rather have either one of them than stupid Ewing)

Not trying to drag this out really, I just find it interesting.  If anything, Barry's a guy you just don't want to see when you show up to work on Monday ya know?  More into criticism than selfishness.  Great player though.  sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1120767/2/index.htm
