Good idea to add new worlds? Topic

Mike...if it is all the same, I'd rather reigny isn't in the world...

I'm not in the world so you get to make the decision. I just think there was a better way to pick a new owner. Giving the team to a guy who averages 90 wins a season isn't going to "even out" the competitive balance for the next 6-8 seasons. That team is still loaded with young, cheap talent.

It seems to me if that team is really still loaded, that you all didn't do the best job dismantling it.

If the owner that took it over is accussed of cherry-picking, then you guys stopped dhort of really fixing the problem.

That guy isn't very good at the game and will do one of two things: 1. Figure out what it takes to build a good team because he inherited one. 2. Screw it up because that's what he's done with the rest of his teams.

Worst case scenario, he gets rewarded with a few $$$ for being an active HBD member before he wrecks the team.

I nominate reigny. Soxfan121, contact reigny and see if he wants the team. Then do the right thing.

In the thread regarding most playoff appearances without a title, someone posted Reigny's profile but wouldn't name him. I knew right away it was his and almost outed him, but didn't. I am glad someone else said it though. Reigny is a cancer to every league he is in. He claims to like to rebuild teams but he is definitely not rebuilding them. They are usually in worse shape than when he first acquired them. I cannot imagine spending all the loot he has on hbd and only making the playoffs three times in 100 something seasons...

I told trop, when he asked if I would take the team to distribute the talent, that I would have no part in dismantling the big league team and making it the 32nd best team in the world. We moved 30+ prospects who hadn't made the BL team.

What was accomplished was forcing the team to use budget to keep the team together rather than replace the 94 overall who was going into his 3rd arb with a 5 year pro 93 overall who was making 59k.

soxfan's big "plan" sounds like he's going to trade great, older, expensive players for younger, not yet great, cheap players. Or, in essence, undo what was done.

griv, you seem to think I read your posts with regularity. I don't. Hope we cleared that up. That said, if you've been pushing for 4 packs that can only be applied to one world, so be it. But it's not in the post you quoted.

That said, congrats on agreeing with me. That makes you right at least once in 2010.

soxfan has committed to a few seasons...I have a hard time telling him that he has to play with what is there and not make trades. I think it would be difficult for anyone to take the team long term under those type of restrictions.

And I wanted to get A) a veteran owner who knew what he was doing B) an owner that I could trust, C) An owner that I knew would take care of the team and help out any of the newer players if asked, and D) someone who would commit to being there in the future.

I believe that we got that owner in soxfan. And while I do share some of your concerns Mike, holding him to the things he posted four plus months ago and not allowing him to change his mind about what we were doing there seems somewhat harsh.

Just saying his "plan" seems like the same "plan" bornlosers used to keep that team dominant. It's very difficult for an owner needing a big bat to turn down that 6 year pro making 7m for the number five pick from two seasons ago.

And, again, I wouldn't find it so objectionable if he didn't pretend he was doing the HBD some favor by taking over a powerhouse. He's a bit self-serving in his goals. You're not stupid. I'm sure you know this.

Aww, did I hurt your wittle feewings? Or just out you for the self-serving hypocrite that you are?

No, it's just hard to be civil to a guy calling you a cheater.

Anyway, we're done on this topic. I, too, assume everyone can read and make up their own mind.

I'm not calling you a cheater. I'm calling you a self-serving opportunist and a hypocrite. Big difference. You'd have to be really, really stupid to not know the difference.

Are you really, really stupid?

Back to the original OP. Why is a rescue Foxx mission any different than a new world?

Instead of helping out a bad world, why not use your money to fill other existing worlds that are successful. That are pretty good worlds? Let Foxx die and help fill a handful of worlds instead of just one?

Sweet thread btw.

Seems like THAT would fix the imbalance in Foxx SO much more easily and help out several other worlds as well.

Again, I don't necessarily disagree. But I do believe that anyone who took that team could be accused of the same, and I do believe in soxman's intentions. Maybe I'll be proven wrong. But I don't think so.
