Greatest Franchise-Mega Tournament - Sound Off Topic

I'm impressed with TRACYR.  Any owner that can get to the 95th Game of this tournament and have a Senators/Twins team with 57 wins AND an Orioles/Browns team with 53 wins must know what the heck he's doing.

TRACYR - This Bud's For You!

I agree 50%.  The Orioles/Brown team accomplishment is quite impressive  (Twins/Senators are currently ranked 5th overall for best franchise).

I'm throwing in the towel with my Yankees team.

There is no reason whatsoever that a Yankee team, in this theme, with the players I have, should be 38-61.  That's worse than my Cardinals team that started 0-11

The Brady Anderson experiment at 2nd base has resulted in 70 errors and 19 - plays.  Yes I get he's a lefty but way too harsh a penalty for an A/B+ outfilelder to pay for playing out of postion.

An 11-2 PM2 showing helps to ease the recent run of sucktitude

This tournament would sure be a lot different with a salary cap of $80M or even $100M.  Way fewer underachieving players.  Also, there'd be a lot more variety of players chosen, especially for those franchises that had a hard time getting to $120M.  Maybe next year.

I say go completely in the other direction and do it at 60m.

Two-Thirds of the way through the season - I've got three teams in First Place in their division (one of them is below .500 but in a ****** division) and one team that's doing well Win-wise but eleven games behind a juggernaut for second place.  My other four teams - Bleeeeeeeeech!

At lower caps it would be interesting to see how badly popular teams (especially Red Sox, Cubs and Yankees) do. I've always thought players on those teams were a little overpriced because of their popularity. It hasn't mattered so much here, since at $120M the pricing isn't a huge factor in who you can play. But at $60M, or even $80M, it could be tricky.

A lower cap would actually help out the Cubs a lot, as is they're a bottom five team.  Chicago's top end hitters are all power guys that get nerfed badly by deadballers, a lower cap would mean fewer elite deadballers allowing those guys to perform better.  Plus the lower cap would allow all the teams to hit the cap more easily (there were a few teams that struggled to hit 120m with an optimized team) meaning some of those guys like Sosa, Banks and Hack Wilson, who were bound to underperform in this format, wouldn't be used just because you've got so much money left to spend.

My Indians have 8 wins in their last 30 games.

This is a pretty spectacular tailspin we're in the middle of.

The Brady Anderson Experiment was dumb, my old friend.

He's now up to 95 errors & has at least hir 4 HR's in his last 12 games.  Way too little, too late

Rostering modern day HR hitters in a 160M league with lots of deadball pitchers = not the best strategy
Playing an outfielder out of position at second base = really a bad idea
Doing both of these at the same time (i.e., Brady Anderson)  = priceless
