Except Seble isn't paying his OWN money, is he?  I'm not going to pay to be beta tester again, I've done that before.  This is one part of the game that was working fine.  Much bigger fish to fry than this one.  Again, change for the sake of change.

I wonder if anyone of any importance will read some of these threads and see the general animosity that coaches seem to now have towards this update.  Oh sure, some will be for it but those almost all fall into the "change for the sake of change" crowd.  There's an old saying that applies perfectly here, I assume just about everyone over the age of 10 has heard it:  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Parts of HD are broken, this isn't one of those parts.  Such a shame.
Yeah I've read a lot of people saying things like "I'm just happy WIS is finally paying attention to HD" without regard to what is actually being changed.  I'd much rather have no attention be given to the game than a "fix" for what isn't broken...and worse a "fix" for the best part of the game...which is recruiting.

I'm strongly considering leaving too, but emy, let's stick around in Rupp Central Atlantic until this update rolls out.  We got something great going there and I wanna enjoy every last second of it until the game is changed (ruined?) completely.

Sure Pep, I've still got some seasons and credits to use up.  I'll stay until those expire, but after that it may be sayonara for me at Post after quite a nice long time.

Clearly most of the proposed changes are geared for D1, but I'm not sure this will level out the playing field very much.  Currently the game, at really all three levels, is a cash game.  Rollover, postseason cash, good conferences generating lots of cash, etc.  This is going to move it to a prestige based game.  which maybe it should be?  Postseason success raises prestige, not cash, which allows you to see better recruits.

The problem is, I think you're really at the mercy of the recruit generation (at D1 to shift power, but really all levels now).  A few people have said it makes sense to be in empty conferences now, or spread out, but this might make it so you want to be near areas where more recruits are generated just to sift through the camps to find good guys locally.  Which is really going to suck for many D3 and even D2 schools.  I know to FSS certain states now because there's the ability to have more pulldowns/dropdowns due to lack of schools there at my level (for example WV at D3 or WI).  That goes away now?

In reality FSS is kind of cheating too much.  It turns it into just rote forumlas.  Look for blues by state.  Of course to FSS you need cash ... which now changes.  I think the idea of camps and such to determine ability could be interesting ... but what about Puerto Rico, and Hawaii and Alaska, and what about internationals?

I hate losing pulldowns.  I hate losing cash.  I hate no rollover (even though many times I wind up with none, it's always the goal).  High/Mid D1 doesn't need pulldowns, cash is a huge advantage for Big6, and rollover is also huge at Big6.  So clearly much of it is designed to lower advantages of Big6, but the ripple effect for mid/low D1 (no idea how this helps you take a D- to a S16 in 4 years) and especially for D2 and D3 is pretty significant I think.  I'm not leaving, but I do think I'll be working on moving teams to D1 to check it out, and if it sucks have the ability to move down to D2 or D3.  Good luck moving up to a D- D1 after this is in place, I think it's going to be a longer rebuild to move up or get better with this in place.  And if hiring/firing doesn't change, the only hope to get a Big6 is people getting tired and leaving the game.

Great points re: becoming a prestige based game (at D1 anyway - D2/D3 become a pure location & budget game due a hard salary cap essentially).  It seems odd to me to do away with all post season cash, because that did add another factor to consider ("texture" as is often said).  And I think post season cash is fair and reflective of real life to some degree (especially since we don't have TV money, a really important factor in RL).
