In my mind it doesn't. There are times when the end can justify using lying as the means, but winning this little game isn't one of those times. Of course, others take a different approach, I think motivated in at least some cases by the fact that lies are a part of the real Survivor (I guess? never really watched it). I'm not sure of the morality of lying there either, but I take it they get a lot of money for winning, which is a more substantial end ... we don't get anything for winning, right?
That said, I was willing to mislead people, or at least not correct their mistaken beliefs. And it might be argued there's really no difference between that and lying, but it does at least feel different. I'd feel bad if I broke one of the few promises I made in the game; I didn't feel bad in not correcting false beliefs ... I felt clever.
