one of the reasons i dont like 16 is tha it kind of agree with the purists who say one of the great things about college football is the regular season is more important there than pretty much any american sport.
to preserve that, you only let the conference champs in. plus maybe one exception depending how you do it.
So, everyone would know going in that the deal is they really need to win their conference. they may squeak in without winning thier confernce, but that is a longshot. Kind of likw now, they know they need to go undefeated.. they may sneak in with one loss, but to be sure, they need to go undefeated.
and i think that would free up the top teams from big conferences to schedule some good noncon games. as it stands now, the bigboys from the SEC are usually going to avoid tough noncon games because they have so many tough ones in conference. but if those noncon games are used more for seeding than determining national champ, these guys might be more inclined to schedule a tough game or two. they might also do that to help bolster their claim for the wildcard spot. assuming there would be a bunch of one loss teams, then it would come down to SOS, right. so make soem tough noncon games...right?
oh well, like i say, they know we are right, but there is something we arent getting. my guess is it has to do with dead presisdents and not about the total quantity of deadP's, but to whom they are going now and to whom they would go under a playoff. somebody is trying real hard to keep their big ole hunk of the pie.
