Your failures are not indicative of what others can do.   I dare say I've had more recent success(if we throw out your ADMIN GIFT TEAMS).    And while I've been "on the list" in Coop, I've not had any issues reaching my numbers nor have I had to abandon a "rebuild".     I simply pointed out, in Foxx and with a disclaimer, that every player I used was available, for nothing more than a contract pick-up, to every owner in that world.

I'll give some support to csherwood's claim that it's harder in a better world, but not in terms of talent avialable, but in terms of the teams you play.

Any MWR will actively rule out the complete tank job teams that get you some easy wins against in worlds without any MWR.

108 games? Geezus, I'm not exactly a prime time player, and I took sergei's bucket of turds in Coop mid season and won 60.

I think if you load it all on payroll, the temptation is to spend large instead of spend smart. I can't see a scenario where you can't win 54 if you have a team for a full season. Sorry, I just can't, regardless of competition or original state of team.

OTOH, I took your piece of **** in NABCL that you abandoned during the offseason (taking over when they were something like 2-6) and managed to salvage 54 wins.

Which became the 1-season rule in Happy Jack... because if I can take a team that missed it's entire off season and win 54 games in NABCL, it's not all that ******* hard to do.

I took an abandoned team in HReynolds at the A/S break.   Something like 28-64.   I managed 62 wins.   Regardless of the strength of a world, I think you almost have try to lose 110.

Was I in NABCL? Really? That was a bad year.

Holy crap, right there in my history. I'm totally freaked out now.

What if I ran naked through the streets too, and don't remember?

I've said, for quite some time, that the players available at the end of FA are often good enough to win 70 games in most worlds.   In Foxx, under poiuyt, I put together a team of players claimed off waivers, players who passed thru waivers and players signed at the end of FA.   I think I won 80 games.   While Foxx isn't exactly a "quality" world, the overall talent is largely the same.   The 10m you need to sign 4-6 FA you can get at the being of ST games translates into 5m in prospect money.   That's not a huge loss in the draft or IFA.

As for voting on whether to allow someone who fails to meet MWR, I'm completely against it.   Everybody's buddy will get to stay because "He tried really hard but caught a couple of bad breaks" while the world *** will be forced to leave because "He just didn't put in the effort."

I have visions of Monte Python...

Crowd: He's a Tanker!
csherwood: I'm not a tanker I'm not a tanker!
MikeT: But you are losing as one
csherwood: *They* traderaped me like this!
Crowd: We didn't! We didn't...
csherwood: And this wasn't the first time. It's been like three.
MikeT: [looks at csherwood's trades] Well?
Owner 1: Well, we did do the the first one.
MikeT: The first one?
Owner 1: And the second, but he's a tanker!
Crowd: Yeah! Boot him! Boot him!
MikeT: Did you traderape him like this?
Owner 1: No!
Owner 3, Owner 2: No!
Owner 3: No!
Owner 1: No!
Owner 3, Owner 2: No!
Owner 1: Yes!
Owner 2: Yes!
Owner 1: Yeah a bit.
Owner 3: A bit!
Owner1, Owner 2: A bit!
Owner 2: a bit
Owner 1: But he has got some high salaried vets!
Random Owner in the crowd: *cough* *cough*

I'll bet you have a record with the Universitytown Regional Police that you don't know about, too.

The rule in both worlds is 55/125/195/280.   2 or 3 seasons.   But it was retroactive.
How the hell did you get Admin to support a rule that was applied retroactively to kick someone out?
10/16/2010 5:58 PM
The owners agreed to it but they did have a season to right their ship.

On a similar note, we just finished FA in Coop.   Some monster contracts were given out.  I don't think the bottom end of the payroll scale is changing but the top end is a lot more pricey.
10/19/2010 8:33 AM
Stupid. My path to season 19 championship glory just got clearer.
