Pie's Pro League- Drafting Topic

So, I think I have said this before, but while I am interested in a new progressive (and signed up for this one), I am just concerned that this one already feels disorganized.  There are so many different posts, ideas, concepts, etc and I am not convinced I have a great idea of how this league is going to function.

I think snyd has a clear idea of how this will go.  It's a bit confusing at the start just to ensure the player pool is big enough to ensure we can start in the '60s without having to rely heavily on "rookie" minutes.  If you just pay attention to snyd's opening posts and clarifications, hopefully it will seem clear enough.

The rules are listed on the 1st page so I really don't understand the confusion or concern! Any sidebar ideas are just discussions tryin to fine tune the league if we want to make changes. This pro league will function just like any other pro league except for the players will progress from different seasons at the beginning of this league with every player starting in their rookie season from the 51-67 seasons since their weren't enough players and it will eventually balance out to where all the players will be progressing from the same season some time in the 80's. Any rules that were changed which were just a few are currently written in the rules for this league right now.

Snydpie with each player progressing one year from his rookie season is there a way to verify each player is on his correct season?  If owners tank to get a
better lottery pick this seems like an easy way to cheat the game.  Gonna be fun there will combos and teams never seen or used before.
Can't wait let's start countdown sequence and light this candle.  Thanks for your hard work putting this together.

In our private forum the rosters will be posted each season with the seasons we are using for each player. I will check the lineups each season to make sure everyone's team is right when they enter the league. I will add everyone to the private forum asap. Thx

The players available for the 1951-1967 rookie draft are finished. If you see any mistakes plz let me know. I was very thorough but you never know. If a player is missing from the list you cannot draft him once the draft starts even if he was a rookie in the '51-'67 seasons so let me know before we start the draft. If you find a player during the draft and claim you didn't find him before the draft started then it's just too bad for you and everyone else. If I do miss a player I will put him in the draft the following season as a rookie but hopefully this won't happen. I appreciate all the help I can get from all of you.

If we don't get the 24th player soon I will use 2 teams since I will only have to pay for one team. Once we finalize the 24 owners I will randomly draw the draft order and then we can start the draft off the clock. I will give everyone plenty of notice for when we will start the draft on the clock. Thx for everything guys, snydpie

i looked the list over pretty carefully... nice job, pie!... except a few players are listed twice, i.e., (neil johnston, gus johnson) but i think that has to do with number of positions played... but if that is true, then why isn't frazier listed three times? or west 2 times, or oscar 3 times?) anyway, the list looks terrific!

as per my count, there seems to be 23 legitimate 1st round picks available... with 4 very good players too that are almost 1st round picks. this will be an interesting draft: wilt, russell, frazier, lucas, oscar, baylor, hawkins, reed, barry, j. west, hondo, gus johnson, etc all up for grabs. lots of great players

The list should be pretty simple; I can look it over but it should be 566 guys.

I will post for you who it is short in the private forum.

wow, robusk found at least 20 players not listed. good job, hombre!

If there is still an opening I will take it provided the draft does not start before next Monday (2/6) as I need some time for research.

I would take the Los Angeles Lakers

Heh.  It was actually pretty easy.  Pivot table with a Min Season filter between 51 and 67; vLookup between the two lists to find the missing person.  It was like maybe five minutes of work total (half of which was correcting spelling/typing errors).

well, i still stand by my previous post... "good job, robusk!"  ; )
