Disappointed...Need to vent: Topic

Even though this is a computer sim, there are some pretty good friendships amongst the HD Coaches. We've all been there, so hopefully you'll allow me this opportunity to vent after my 3rd straight 1st-round exit  and second to a Sim-

AAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SON-OF-A-GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd used harsher language but my soon-to-be 3 y/o picks up EVERYTHING his Daddy says.

Disappointed and a bit disillusioned as to whether it's just a "Sim job", bad recruiting or stupid gameplanning.  1000 wins in Knight is easily within reach next season but I'm just too @#$%^$  off to even think about returning right now.

Vent over.

This won't make it any better but know that I understand.

I had a 29-0 team with 3 All-Americans. We lost in the 1st round to a 13-17 Sim team.

My first Final Four appearance resulted in  an embarrassing 94-53 loss.

Hang in there....we all have bad beat stories.  Try to see if there is anything to be learned from the loss.  You lost to a team that was pretty good.  They were comparable in Ath/spd/reb.  Your defense rating was better, but they had slight advantages in stamina and passing, and a pretty big IQ advantage.  Given the IQ and the stamina, I might not have played uptempo....but I know its frustrating to lose to sims....but that sim was good.

Thanks alblack. I know that there are a ton of Coaches that have gone through the very same thing...I guess that's what makes this game so fun. And aggravating. I should feel better knowing that I only lose one player, have a RS frosh that should be pretty good and I face the team that just beat me in non-con next season...payback.

Thanks reinsel as well. Running uptempo definitely goes under "Stupid Gameplanning". Although it can be put under "Stubborn" as well as I thought we could get past them running our usual uptempo pace. Oh well...I knew the HD community of Coaches would understand my vent.

Thanks.

There's always something to be learned from a loss, so I'll be going over the boxscore and p-b-p later this afternoon. The only thing I know that can take away the sting of a bad loss is taking my son to the playground for some quality time....and then to Starbucks.

I doubt this will make you feel any better, but I am selfishly pleased that coaches like you that are far better than me can get equally frustrated.

I think you need to rethink the "usual uptempo pace."  That could explain why you're struggling in the tournament - more often than not, running uptempo against tournament teams does more harm than good.  MUCH more often than not.  Virtually always.

I've made the NT 8 seasons in a row.  7 of those seasons have involved first round exits, and I'm fairly certain more than half of those 7 times I was the better seed going into the game...

I've lost two NT title games on buzzer beaters... one from half court by a player with a PER of 15.

Not that I'm bitter...

That sounds like my record.  I think my favorite was today, when BSU was up 10 with 8:41 to play and then was on the wrong end of a 25-4 run to the buzzer.

Thanks dahs for the suggestion, and thanks everyone else for sharing. I knew from being around as long as I have that those stories are everywhere....just needed to hear a few to realize that it happens to everyone. Even though I'm just short of 1000 wins there is still a ton for a Coach like me to learn, so I appreciate all the suggestions.  if anyne has any other constructive thoughts please sitemail them to me-I think I have a good squad coming back next season and I'll consider any pointers.  Thanks.

Side note-While we were at Starbucks this afternoon my son looks at me and said, "Daddy you're my best friend."  That loss to Willamette didn't seem so bad after all. Everyone have a blessed day!!

Wow I really might smash my computer if I lost on a halfcourt shot like that in the title game.

I guess the closest for me was when I had a shot blocked at the buzzer by a guy with 1 Blk..but that didn't seem as bad since he had 90+ Def.
