what happened to my draft pick? Topic

I had the 8th overall pick in last seasonally draft for stienbrenner he didn't sign, why don't I have a pick this year?

You only get a Type D if your prospect chooses to go back to school after you offered whatever he's demanded. If you didn't have enough Prospect budget to offer the initial or "on second thought" demands, then you chose to not sign the pick and do not get compensation for that.

I thought it is just the inital demands...

IIRC, If you meet the initial demand and they come back with an "on second thought" offer that you do not/can not meet, you will not receive a Type-D. It has to be a total rejection of playing pro baseball for staying an amateur (or going pro in a different sport).

That is incorrect.  They just have to reject an offer that meets their initial demand.  You do not have to make an offer on their subsequent demand.

As to the question posted by the person who started this thread, I can only speculate that you either did not meet their initial demand, or that you withdrew your offer before it was rejected.

Or the pick could have been a Type D itself from an unsigned pick a season earlier.

I'm pretty sure that you get comped if a previous season type D pick turns down your first offer.  I've seen it happen.  It could be that the pick was a type A comp pick.  They don't give comp for those guys turning down first offers

8th pick can't be a Type A comp pick.

You also need to offer the entire initial demand bonus, and not a penny less.  If you don't offer his full initial demands, you don't get a Type D the following season.

This also applies when he comes back with a second demand, but he remembers if you never met his initial demands.
