the main draw behind this guy for me was his defense and athleticism. i was thinking with his speed id probably slide him into a 3 or 4 spot but is his ball handling and passing going to be a major issue?

Just don't give him any distro and he can be a contributor with defense and offensive putbacks.  I recruit guys like that myself from time to time. 

you can get away with giving him minutes at the 3.  as mike said, just don't give him any distro.  if you play him at either guard spot he'll kill you though

i probably should have mentioned he is high in defense low post ball handling and passing and average in everything else. but good that everyone else is on the same page with me as the sf. guess i should not always just drool over the athleticism and defense though and see what ratings they have in other areas next time haha

If he's high in BH and Pass he'll be just fine for the SF position in terms of those ratings before he graduates.  Depending on how high the high LP is (sometimes LP/Per can be 50 or 60+) he could definitely turn into a decent offensive option by the time he graduates.  I'd say he was a real solid recruit.  I'm very fond of guys like that who are capable of providing quality minutes right away based on their starting ratings but have the ability to grow into well-rounded starters.  Usually guys that start out as rebounders, defensive stoppers like your guy, or perimeter shooters.

Does he have any high potentials like in ball handling or passing? if he does the red shirt might get him in 30's in ball handling and passing going into the offseason and he might improve in those areas a little more before next season. Then like everyone else is saying he probably good for a bench spot with very little distro to spell your sg or pg for 10 to 12 until his ball handling and passing improves into the 40's depending on his potentials.

according to monzons evals he has STL for LP and ball handling. youre right dahs he could end up being a pretty good scorer before all is said and done not to mention being a defensive dynamo.
