Division I Recruiting Advice Topic

This will be my first time in D1, and I'm wondering if anyone can give me tips as to how recruiting will be different from D2 and D3. I'm at a D+ prestige school, so what overall rankings should I be aiming for? Do I need to pull down recruits ranked higher than a certain number overall/by position?

Thanks!

Just like at D2 and D3, some players will tell you that you are a backup option for them.  If you want those players, you will have to wait for them to dropdown or pull them down.

I do not really look at the "player rankings" as much as I look at individual attributes.

I had IUPUI in Rupp ... I think your goal in a conference like the Summit League is to build a team that can win that conference a couple times in a row.  I like to pick up guys with high potentials.

There is a lot more battling in D1 than D2 or D3.

I know that the rankings don't dictate how good a player will be, but with a D+ prestige, is there a certain "magic number" that can be used to know if I will be able to recruit straight-up or will have to see if the recruit will have to be pulled down?

No real magic number.  Four and five stars will be out of your range (obviously), probably three stars as well.  You'll really just have to make the phone calls to know for sure which recruits are immediately receptive and which are back-ups.
